WW2 - German howitzers

Post by Khanti »

In many WW2 scenarios German heavy howitzers have shorter range (6 km) and ligher ones have bigger (11 kilometres).
I don'tk know why. AFAIK both could fire on more than 10 kilometres range.
As I mostly edit scenarios before playing, I share this observation.

10.5 cm leFH 18 - Maximum firing range 10,675 m

15 cm sFH 18 - Maximum firing range 13,325 m

There is no such thing as a historically accurate strategy game. Every game stops being accurate from the very first move player make. The first unit that moves ahistorically, first battle with non-historical results, means we ride into the unknown.

Note that the two you posted shots of are generic, not German-specific.

Scenario designers use those generic equipment in many scenarios as German ones. And ranges are weird.

Many older scenarios didn't have any options to design their own equipment. All that came later - usually after those designers were long gone.

Thank you. That makes sense. So, I've downloaded New TOAW IV 5.2 database to edit those scenarios I play.
