The problem with the Japanese garrison

Post by IIo4Tu »

I haven't played for a long time and after the last update I decided to play a game.
The following problem has emerged: the newly purchased garrison cannot be loaded onto a transport to deliver it from Japan to the mainland, the button is not highlighted, although the garrison is in the port.
Is this a new feature or a bug after the last update?

Either you have no money, or no more free transports. To check the latter, rightclick on the unit and among other things you'll see how many transports of each type are still free.

It's like it's not my first day in the game, of course I wrote the problem taking into account the fact that there is money and there are free transports.
There is nothing wrong with the garrisons on the mainland, I can send them, but there is no one from Japan.

There could be a bug with the latest patch. This got reported in the WiE forum. https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 4&t=400501
I postponed a WiE MP match temporarily till it gets resolved.

Definitely the Transport bug is here with WaW too, as in WiE.
Japan has 306 MPP. Plenty of transport capability too. AVs and AVLs can be loaded as per the example, but not the transport.
Any units on ports that don't have rain nearby can be transported. Oddly, I have a unit in Shanghai and the port has one rain hex and one clear weather hex next to it. I can transport out of there. But not here in this example.
Same irregularities been reported with WiE.

yes, this is the problem, perhaps it really has to do with the weather

Yeah something is weird. Bill Runacure confirmed it was a bug over on the WiE forum. When I read your post, well I wondered if you were actually experiencing the same thing here with WaW...so testing away I went. :)

It seems the “bug” affects units but only with snow or frozen weather. It does not seem to come up with rain/fog weather.

Also, with the latest patches I’m seeing that garrisons can be regularly transported but never amphibiously transported in any weather.

So as an afterthought: can garrisons normally be amphibiously transported (without any bugs that 1.18.00 and 1.28.00 may have introduced)?

Amphibians are not available for garrisons

Indeed, as soon as the weather cleared up, transport became available.
That is, it turns out that the weather affects, not the type of troops and territory

Looking at the images posted by Scottydog on the WiE forum and more tests it seems yes it's ice or snow on the town the port is adjacent too...not rain, that's stops a unit from being able to transport.
I remember when UK detachments on Cyprus got replaced with garrisons with SC-WW1 a few years ago after a lot of extremely egregious use of micro-landing with detachments on the Ottomans long coast haha.
So basically garrisons can't AV and the microlandings stopped. (edited).

Ah, interesting about garrisons not able to amphibious transport. Thanks, guys. I actually never even considered the possibility, that is until the latest patches introduced this snow/ice/frozen transport bug.

And yet, on my very limited play-testing, I vaguely remember that this weather transport bug affected, for example, the Japanese mainland, but I’m not altogether sure if under the same weather conditions, it similarly affected Japanese units in mainland China.

I figure the weather bug is universal, but it may oddly apply only to a Major nation’s homeland. Need to test some more to be sure.

After some additional play-testing with WaW 1.18.00 (I suppose it’s the same for WiE 1.28.00), the weather transport bug does seem to be applicable universally, though inconsistently.

In a Major nation’s homeland, however, it’s particularly inconsistent in that with identical snow/frozen weather conditions, a Special
Forces unit, for example, cannot transport but can amphibious transport, whereas a Corps cannot do either.

Confirmed furthermore that this weather transport bug did not exist in the previous 1.17.00 and 1.27.00 patches, respectively: it is introduced with the latest 1.18.00 and 1.28.00 patches.

Thank you. Yes, Bill Runacre did acknowledge the weather bug and they will be putting out a hotfix as soon as possible, though it will be in the new year.

Interestingly, I’ve only seen reports of this weather bug for the latest patches WiE 1.28.00 and WaW 1.18.00. I wonder if it likewise affects WWI 1.12.00 and ACW 1.09.00, which are the corresponding latest patches for these two games.

In the meantime, WiE 1.27.00 and WaW 1.17.00 are fully playable without this bug, and can benefit from the respective latest campaigns, scenarios, and scripts.

In any case, the hotfix will surely correct this weather transport bug in all games affected by it.

I've experienced the same issue. Had plenty MMPs. Had enough potential transports. (right click proves that). My guess, was the morale of the unit.

Appears smarter folks then me, have figured it out.

Interesting enough, since it's bad weather, figure someone hasn't wanted half movement sailing in storms.
