New Computer

Post by afspret »

I've bought a new computer that does not have an installed cd/dvd drive, but I do have an external one, as well as a WD passport device.

Question is can I transfer all the files for the game to the passport and then onto my new computer and pick up where I left off, or do I still have to install the basic game from the disc and go from there? Thanks in advance.

I would perform a brand new installation so your registry is up to date. Then transfer all saves, reports, and any other files that you need.

If you have game DVD, it should have your registration number on it. You should be able to download the program and patch from the Matrix site using that registration number. You need at minimum the original 2009 game and patch ending with .1126a or .1126b

Go to the Matrix web site and log on to mypages. If you resgistered the game you can download another copy. Mypages also provides registered serial numbers for all Matrix games.

If your not registered you can using the serail number provided on the CD.

Okay, I've finally got around to installing the game on my new computer, but I'm having video and audio issues. On my old computer I was using this in the target window, C:"\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -deepcolor -single cpu orders -cpu2 -multi audio -skip video. The issues I'm having are slow movement when I drag the pointer across the screen and skipping audio when the turn is running.

My new computer is running an AMD Ryzen 3 5300G processor, Windows 11 Home/64 bit and AMD Radeon graphics.

Hi. Try adding the -dd_sw switch. It handles DirectDraw via software which could help reduce both drag and slow button response.

Also, the -multiaudio switch should be all one word if it isn't already. Not -multi audio as you've described in your post.

Not to mention that it should be "-deepColor" as well . . .

In fact, read the readme file on how to do these, you have spaces where there should not be spaces and some letters should be CAPITALIZED that are not capitalized. Such as:
-SingleCpuOrders
-deepColor
-skipVideo
