Ship identification on reload

Post by imp44791 »

One of the most annoying features of saving mid battle is that on reload all ships get reidentified. This means that a ship that was previously fully identified, engaged for umpteen turns etc, becomes "unidentified ship" as often as not. With night battles this is especially infuriating as ships may then hold fire on a target they had been previously happily shooting up for hours. Can you please save a 2-d matrix of which ship has identified which and to what degree? Surely it can't take up that much space.

Another very annoying "feature" is that in Captain's mode the game will re-assess which squadrons are within sight of the flagship and revert them to AI control. This means that on reload you must physically click every single squadron that was previously on manual, turn it back from auto, and redo its speed and direction orders. For big battles this is a highly unpleasant chore. I get it that many play on rear and full admiral mode, as indeed I did once before I gave up hope my destroyers ever screening my formation rather than follow behind me like faithful but useless dogs. So Captain's mode it is for me now - unless I want to go to bed mid-battle and make the unforgivable error of saving my progress. On reload it will mean I will have to redo everyone's orders again since the demented AI will have given everyone bizarre vectors, AND hope that previously visible ships will stay visible.
