No mo Snow! ?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

No mo Snow! ?

Post by gmhammerhead »

I need to find out if there is a wayto edit some of the large scenarios to eliminate the snow on the maps. I like both of WBW's large games ( Steel Sheild and Tragic Stand ) But my eyes are extremely sensitive to the whiteness of the snow. Is there a way to change the map or the season in these games to eliminate the snow? I have tried to use the editor but can not seem to get the season or map changed to get the snow out.

Also, I am looking to play some internet games and wish to know how to set it up.
I have a cable modem and a 566 MHZ mother.

There ain't easy way to get snow out of maps, its long and hard process and it would be easier to draw a new map. but we don't know what is coming...

One way to eliminate snow-white is to tune your monitor. Other way is to go to preferences and switch 'show move radius' (or something similar) so that it darkens areas around unit.

Last is editors 'time of the day', but it can get alot consequences in scenario itself.

As mosh says, to edit the map and take the snow out would be a montrous job - you'd load the scenario in the editor, then save the map. Now you'd make sure you were in "Summer", and start replacing every hex of snow with whatever you wanted. The problem would be you'd take out roads, rivers, trees and everything and have to re-do them.

Wish I had a simple solution for you, because I know those white maps are bright, but I don't.

Thanks all for the ideas!
I will try the sunglasses.

Perhaps I can talk Wild Bill into doing ine of his big map/lots 'o reinforcements/ US vs German/ post 7-44 / Non invasion/ meeting engagement/ high visibility/ SUMMER ( with no freak snowstornms ) games.

Now, that's not too much to ask ( as a spoiled, jaded, lazy SP fan, is it?

In all seriousness, I wear amber sunglasses especially when it is snowing in SPWAW.
