Production start for SU-76 and SU-122

Post by Wiedrock »

Production for both started already in December 1942, they were used to form a SU Regiment in December already.

For instance, according your sources the SU-122 gives overall production 636 pieces. Ingame production is 19 per week for 34 weeks(January - August 43). That gives 646. More or less what have been produced IRL.
So you are suggesting production should start in Dec 42 and end July 43?
Or Production should go from Dec 42 till August 43 and Soviets will get much more than IRL?
Or...

There are more possibilities how devs could set up production for this particular device and every other as well. With lot of variables needed to take into account, compromises are needed.

SU-122:
In game there is a limit of max 638 being produced (by consuming 1x T-34 Chassis each). So the period somewhat isn't all that important (as long as it's long enough). The issue being that December has 4 Weeks (at least), so this would mean 638/(34weeks+4weeks)=16.8per week, so 17 per week, so we would already get 17*4=68 in December. This may be somewhat over the top. BUT....
SU-76:
....BUT I am reporting this also remembering about this post (was related to the light SPGs/SU-76) where many TOE suddenly need SP Guns while there are almost none produced yet/in stock which reduces overall TOEs.
So currently you have like about 9 weeks (till end dof Februrary) of 20xSU-76 (=180) each before many TOEs will require light TDs. While IRL at that point there would have been Dec+Jan+Feb 25+40+150=215 produced until the end of February. If we spin that to the end of March it's 13x20=260 while IRL was 364 (25+40+150+150). That's why I feel starting production in December wouldn't hurt too much.
I never tested how the "expansion rate" for Production works, maybe this would be a good point to use it for the first time instead of a linear production  .

Ofcourse it's not game breaking and as often, sources vary, like this side doesn't list the 1433+1434 Regiments to be formed in 1942.

Both had a very limited broduction in december so we simply moved that into 43. I see no problem with that.
Expansion rate was a nice tool for factories production tanks/aircraft but that does not work with the chassis/airframe system
