What games did you got past December?

Post by Kuokkanen »

What it says in the tin. I got myself Wargame Construction Set trilogy, Breach, Breach 2, Rules of Engagement, Fire Emblem Awakening (and 3DS to play it!), and Projekt: Passion. Man, I have game manuals to read!

And it is necessary. Even though Breach seems like a relatively simple & straightforward game, I was scratching my head how to get to next turn. It's shift + click. If rifle shot misses an enemy, shot can hit a friendly down the line. Important stuff to know.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

WITW and Drive on Moscow, this is a great little funny game.
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:
You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.

Greetings Kuokkanen,
I played Breach, Breach 2 , Breach 3 , Rules of Engagement and Rules of Engagement 2, in my younger years, on my Commodore Amiga 500. I am pleased that the games are available on gog games. I will not go back to them at age 72.
Here are links to the manuals:
Breach

Breach 2

Rules of Engagement

I played these these games to near death. They are fantastic and would like to see Valor & Victory do Breach 1 & 2.

Note that Breach 3 was rts.

Enjoy these fantastic games,
Rommel222

P.S. Breach 3 was released by Impression games.

I don't know... At times something seems off. Take Breach 2 scenario COMM POST. Briefing says to secure 2 locations. But as I understand the manual, I would need at least 2 marines for that, but scenario got only a squad leader and nobody else. Some tough opposition too, which would mean a 1337 SL to solo against them, but scenario is rated as "Easy".

The first Breach game got perma death for squad leader. Manual details a handful of scenarios, but I got no idea about the rest of the scenarios. So either trial & error or repeat the easiest scenarios in the manual to level up the squad leader.

Bruh!

Good Snowstorm Sunday,
Over 8 inches of snow so far in Saratoga NY. I recall that some of the into missions were easy but you had to stay frosty so your squad leader did not get wiped out too soon to finish mission. So save often.
If you want a breach type game that is more modern I recommend Star Sentinel Tactics here at Matrixgames:
https://www.matrixgames.com/game/star-sentinel-tactics
It has similar game play missions. there are videos of game play (google it). I like it, so no need to go back to Breach games for me (but I remember them fondly on the Amiga 500).

I finally bought Shadow Empire and the Kursk & Pacific addons for Valor & Victory during the Winter sale.
Shadow Empire is very immersive and fast becoming my favorite game along side Distant Worlds. Valor & Victory is very good too. I think a Sci-fi addon similar to breach would be neat for Valor & Victory game engine.

Time to shovel snow and then game away afterward
