Combat calculations? Details on the Combat Formula?

Post by milspec »

Hi. Great game, I really enjoy it.

I read through 3.2 Combat, especially 3.2.9 Combat Formula. I am curious about the combat calculations. Are these documented in this or any other Campaign Series game? For example, what is the Modified Attack Strength penalty for range? Is the penalty for Digging in the same as the penalty for Low on Ammo? I see the formula is Attack Strength vs Defense Strength, but how are they compared?

Just wondering if these were available in a document, or a post, or in a game file.

FYI, I was previously curious about Shadow Empires, so I researched it and wrote this guide:

Thanks!

There is a combat results table where the calculations are based on for attacking and defending. Range is found in the weapon.pdt file which varies for every unit. There is not penalty, per se, as the attack value is modified already for at different ranges.

Digging in numbers are found in the ai file. They will vary for each nation and each decade.

Low Ammo penalty is 75% consistently for all nations.

Attack strength is the value found in the weapon file (soft or hard targets have different values)

Defense strength is found in the platoon file.

Hopefully this helps!
