AI Advantages

Post by traskott »

First, sorry if this is the wrong forum. I write the question here in order to mod some scenario, but I need to know (more or less) exactly what are the AI advantages when we play against computer:

- Can the AI "teleport" units if I do an amphibious invasion?
- Can the AI see - and react - to all my movements? naval ones, specially? ( i.e. : If I put a AP without escort in Tahiti can he know it from Marshalls ).
- Can the AI teleport naval units to intercept those naval units?
- In order to make some scripts ( ie: raids in main naval bases ), naval Ai units could be intercept incoming ( ie: in the Solomon if they are making a dash towards noumea ).
- AI damaged ships teleport to safe harbours after X time?

Thank you very much. :D

It's my understanding that when it comes to teleportation the AI only has the ability to teleport anchored ships from another port to fill out the requisite ships for a script ordered task force. So, there are no teleporting task forces, just ships that are "borrowed" as needed to make a TF. Land units cannot teleport to react to an amphibious invasion if that's what you mean.

My submarines have encountered or torpedoed enough damaged AI warships limping home from battles that took place days or weeks earlier to conclude that it doesn't automatically teleport crippled ships to the safety of distant shipyards although it can teleport such ships for task force use.

I don't know about ships and TFs but I'm pretty sure the AI can see all my LCUs. It always seems to know to bomb them when they are in move mode. However, from what I've observed it doesn't seem to know or suspect when there are warships lurking in a nearby port. I've annihilated many unsuspecting AI cargo TFs unloading close by with warships disbanded in a nearby port and making a surface foray on the next turn.

The AI does get a lot of perks in other areas. It's not bound by garrison requirements or HQ restrictions. I don't think it suffers PP penalties for its habit of not withdrawing ships or air squadrons.

There are upgrades listed for air units because the AI does not withdraw them. I mean, could you imagine Claudes trying to take out B-29s?
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o
