Auto RR repair and Lock HQ bugs

Unfortunately, even complying with the no-more-than-five-hexes-to-a-railhead criteria (I was like 2 hexes away), auto RR repair using OT/RAD SUs doesn't work in my "Typhoon" test run (no stacking conflicts either: I left the rail hexes completely unoccupied except the Corp HQ with the OT/RAD units attached). In addition, the Lock HQ feature to prevent reattachment of the OT/RAD units to other HQs likewise does not work as advertised, because in my test run the few OT/RAD units that *actually do* deploy to repair rail hexes (in useless locations, 'natch) have been reassigned to the Army level from the Corps I had assigned all RAD/OT SUs to. So, auto-repair is clearly a buggy "feature" and I wonder why it is even in the game. Lock HQ is not working here either. So Two bugs
The nice thing about board games and feature/rules was that "bugs" only manifest from the interpretation of the rule verbiage (which certainly happened! My older brother wrote SPI to get clarification or resolve arguments more than once when playing WiE).

Construction units I also have some questionmarks left, generally.

Does your HQ have CUs assigned? HQs (afaik) can "assign" ConstructionSUs to CUs during (enemy(?)) Logistics Phase for building Fortifications, ....while those (afaik) get built during enemy logistics while rail repairs are done in own logistics, this "Fortification Building Assistance" may not be forgotten about when looking into their doings,...I guess.

I don't believe there is any buggy feature here, but most likely user error.

In the last six years I have not seen any issues with this feature.

Also there is no guarantee construction battalions will be deployed where you want them. Except rails within the 5 hex range, they can be deployed to repair airfields, depots etc.

not all types of contruction units may do rail repair.
There needs to be a working railhead in range of the HQ as repair will only start from a working railhead

21.6.1. Rail Repair Units (Living manual created Thursday, ‎October ‎12, ‎2023, ‏‎8:28:30 AM)

Errata 01.02.50
Units with the following text included in their names can repair rail damage:
Rail
Railway Construction
Engineer GS
R.A.D.
O.T.
RR Construction
A change was made so that units with “Railyard” in their name are now
specifically excluded from repairing rail damage even though “Rail” is a part
of Railyard. Before the change, some security units with Railyard in the name
were repairing damaged rail.

AI deploys these repair units during the Axis logistics phase. Connection to an operating rail head is not required. Not sure which leadership rating is checked and not all repair units will deploy every time. In this example only one deployed.

First lock HQ support levels, more than one way to do it and in the commanders report we can lock all HQ's quickly.

I have been using RR support units attached to Corps HQs for a very long time. The only abnormal thing I have ever seen is them deploying beyond the 5 hex command range limit. Very rare but does happen. Non deployment has always been my own error or occasionally missed admin checks. I have not played the DLC nor am I on the latest version (still on .52).

Thanks for for responding and specifically thanks to DekeFentle for the screenshots and tip you provided about Locking HQs in the command screen instead off the Game option screen. Using the Comand screen to Lock HQs in T1 (after assigning the OTs/RADs where I wanted), all but one of the seven OT/RADs deployed and repaired Rail hexes in T2, within 5 hexes of the assigned Corps (still stupidly, but whatever), and remained with their assigned HQs.
So, the program Bug is that choosing the "Lock HQ Support" button in the Game Options screen, which was what was suggested in an earlier, separate thread, and what I had been using, does not actually work to lock HQs. Good to know.

been playing the game very extensively since its inception and I have never had any issues with the Lock HQ Support in the Game Options screen. If it is checked off the game never shifts any SU. Maybe I have been lucky but it should work fine.
