Topup constructs ships without Ion Shield in Ion Nebula

I’ve ordered a topup of my Grabbers 4 fleet. The fleet’s template (named “Capture fleet”) specify 5 frigates + 1 fuel tanker. The frigates do not have Ion Shield, even though I do have access to that component (need the space for assault pods). The topup resulted in at least one frigate being built at the Atirboa spaceport (which is in the Serafor system, which is in the Serafor Disturbance, an Ion Storm Nebula). The frigate's name is Surprise of Sarafor (should have been "Bad" Surprise of Sarafor).

That makes the frigate useless for my current in-game situation. The Boskaras declared on me, and I need all my fleet to be operational yesterday (that’s why I had ordered a topup of the fleet). But that's annoying no matter what the current game situation is.

Hopefully, that’s not the intended behavior.

When a build order is given, either with the topup button, or with CC's “Build Order” (excluding the use of the map interface build orders), the game should avoid building ships without Ion Shield in nebulae, especially Ion Storm nebulae. Maybe the game assumes, because the player has access to the Ion Shield component, that all his/her designs have an Ion Shield. If that’s the case, it shouldn’t.

Have you seen said behavior on the latest public beta, v1.2.0.0?

I haven't switched back to the beta yet, because I'd like to finish my current game (it's an interesting one, and DW was crashing often with 1.1.8.7 beta). Given that the beta update notes start with the recommendation of starting a new game, I didn't upgrade. If you consider that it would still be a valid test to continue my game with the 1.2.0.0 beta, I'll take a chance and upgrade (hopefully, it won't crash).

So, is it worth it to upgrade to 1.2.0.0 while continuing my current game, for testing if that specific problem still occurs with it? Or would such a test be meaningless because the game was started with a previous version?

I've upgraded to 1.2.0.0 yesterday, but didn't start a new game (continued my current one). And yes, I've seen those behaviors (and other ones, also problematic) after the upgrade. I've attached a new save that should allow you to reproduce the problem. To do so, just select the Mini-carriers 1 fleet, and click on the topup button. When I do it, the game builds at least one destroyer at Talfagleu 3, which is in the Talfagleu Region ion storm nebula. And none of my current destroyer designs have ion shield.

Here's the 1.2.0.0 save:

In fact, to avoid the annoyances caused by this problem, I've researched the tech Improved Destroyers just so I'd be able to (hopefully) add ion shields on my destroyer designs while keeping their weapons as they are (all my other ships already have ion shields). Which is not necessarily what I would have prioritized in terms of research in the current situation. Having to research certain techs to compensate for problems in the game isn't fun.

On a more positive note, the game hasn't crashed yet since I've upgraded, which it used to do often with 1.1.8.7 beta. Hopefully, it will stay that way... So far, so good (fingers crossed).

Understood, thanks for the additional info and saves. We'll investigate.
