Rebuild Detroyed Part Division?

Post by Reiver67 »

Apologies for asking the following but I could not find any answer to my query.

I am playing the main campaign (scen1) as Allies, situation is:

May 42, Japanese commence operations to take Port Moresby, due to lack of shipping I divide the 6th Australian Division and send one brigade over. All good and the Aussies were holding their own, however the next load of Japanese reinforcements came covered by battleships and a carrier group which scotched my further attempts to move the rest of the 6th Division over.

To cut the ensuing 5 week struggle short, subdivision C of the 6th Australian Division was destroyed when Port Moresby fell. I do not see this part unit in the destroyed units section or the ground reinforcement schedule and I cannot re-combine parts A and B to make the 6th whole again. Is this the way it will stay, that I cannot have the 6th Division as one unit?

Regards,

Have you checked the reinforcement list? Did you wait a few turns to check the destroyed units list. I think it takes a few turns to either show up there or for your 2 remaining parts to combined. Someone will show up with better info....GP

Thanks for responding.

Yes, it has only been two days since the unit was wiped out.

I checked the manual which certainly states I should be able to rebuild the division, I'll wait and see.

Funnily enough I had a constituent unit of the Port Moresby brigade at Townsville when all the other bits were destroyed and it allowed me to rebuild as Port Moresby brigade straight away.

Regards,
Check to see if parts A and B have the same devices, if one was upgraded and the other was not upgraded then they can not combine. I don't think that you can buy back the /C part.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

Your right RJ, You can't buy back fragments. Good thinking about the mismatched upgrades....GP

Both the remaining units have the same devices, hopefully this will resolve in a few turns.

The /C fragment was not a unit, so it will never show up in the reinforcement queue nor be in the destroyed units list.

You should be able to recombine the A/B sections into the Division, set it to take reinforcements, and split it again into 3 part to receive reinforcements faster (the game tries to give devices to all the units & subunits set to receive them). As RJ suggested, turn upgrades off to ensure the three subunits remain able to recombine when you see fit.

Solved - disbanded one of the two remaining bits and then the last unit was allowed to be rebuilt as the division.
