Initial Point vs Turning Point (Ingress)

Post by mikerohan »

So, when modifying a flightplan in the flightplan editor, what's the difference between "Initial Point" and "Turning Point (Ingress)" ?

And what should I use if I just want a "waypoint" (so I can change the Altitude/Speed, for example) but it's going to be far from the Ingress Point?

Thanks!

For generally changing the flight path, speed, or altitude, use Turning Point (Ingress) for the outgoing part of the flight (airbase --> target) and Turning Point (Egress) for the return part (target --> airbase). The Initial Point is the last waypoint before the target, so there should be just one of those in the flight plan. The altitude at the IP is adjusted by default to the minimum required for the weapons carried by the aircraft (e.g., 800 ft AGL for a 500 lb bomb lacking a retarding mechanism).
