Import Export Database question

Post by 1nutworld »

Has anyone noticed that at least in one case there have been deleted units as part of the Import Export database?

I ask because I was attempting to create a scenario using Saudi Arabia, and imported Taif (King Fahd Airbase) and I added the aircraft to the base and armed and readied them, and told them to launch, and in the scenario under the task bar it showed "Waiting for available runway".

After investigating, I found that there were no longer any Runway access points from any shelters, tarmac spaces or A/C bunkers to allow A/C to get to the runway to take off.

I then tried to get into the editor and add runway access points but couldn't get the access points I added to then group with the imported air base units.

Looking for suggestions other than, don't use that air base anymore.

Yeah, the access points are missing.

Try leaving the air base in grouped view and then group the new units with them. That seems to work out.

Switching to an ungrouped view and then grouping just causes two separate groups to be formed.

You can edit the fil with a tool such as Notepad++

Update the missing item with the correct DBID, and you should be good to go.

If somebody is changing or deleting db IDs at the developer level oooof. Best to stay away from that for this reason, not to mention if scenarios use the deleted/changed ID an editor updates their scenario.

Are you talking about the Taif.inst file, Mike?
I am.

PS: I admit, the title of the topic threw me off too at first :)

Could you confirm you had that import with Access Points before?

I've checked the previous files I had and there's none.

Ps: gotcha Mike, I misunderstood what you were saying.

I can confirm it existed at one point.

1nutworld, here is King Fahad Air Base from Primarchx' Kingdom Come, 2018 scenario.

Mike, I'm not sure to understand why it would be a bad idea to edit the inst manually. Can you elaborate, for my own edification?

PS: I've checked my archives and dating back to 2019, Taif.inst doesn't have Access Points.

Cheers

Ah. Wasn't talking to you at all. Editing the file is fine.

We don't ever delete DB entries for precisely this reason. If something is missing, I'd hope its a tech issue and not a DB issue.

I didn't see this until yesterday, but I wanted to say thank you for sharing this in an updated format.
