Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Home and working on the Mods:
Fleet: Good
Balance: Good
Air: Working on it.
Think I have the CLAA done. Very un-Japanese vessel: no Long Lances and no Floatplanes. There will be eight with one in commission at start of war and another brought in days after Pearl Harbor. Did upgrades in the following months: start, 8/42, 10/43, 8/44.
Followed the thinking here and moved up JUDY and JILL by three months.
Have got to change the warship production schedule with just the two B-65, Unryus, and Niitaka CAs.

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Should I just use the Hiryu-Class as the follow-on additions after the war starts? Would simply tweak the AA and that is about it. Thoughts?

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Got all the ship-building changes and additions done. Air groups are done as well. This looks pretty good. Having no big ship construction hogs in the build cue is pretty strange. Seeing just Carriers, Cruisers, and DDs is just plain weird...good mind you...but odd...

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Think I got a damned headache from crunching the build times on Japanese slipways for this version of the Mod! Took an hour to juggle everything and make sense of it without major issues.

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Cool beans. Is there anything you want me to look at or review in the mods? Just from the descriptions and discussion/comments that have taken place, I think the mod that catches my eye the most is the middle one but I'm willing to look over or help out wherever you think I can be of value.
So these mods seem to be working fine in the updated version 1.8.11.27.2 with extended maps (I'm using one from Chemkid at the moment). Is there anything else needed for the mods?

Let me send you this one to look at. I am hoping to play test it with an opponent. Everything LOOKS good but need to run it to see for sure.
Will send files tomorrow.
Now I need to create a new website to house everything. Stay tuned for that.

Air Mod
Please post number of CV, CVLs, and CVE for both side along with total number of aircraft. I'm working on talking Mike B into giving this one a test drive as I don't want it to be too much a IJN wet dream.
After looking at the numbers, maybe increase US Navy CVLs and lessen number of Cleveland CLs.

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
OOB Changes/Additions for Japanese and Allied Fleets
Between the Storms--Air
Additional/Changed Japanese Ships built:
Washington Treaty Years (1922-1930)
CV Amagi instead of CV Kaga
CVL Ryukaku
CVE Ibuki
BB Tosa
BC Ishitaka
LBC Chichibu
CA Yoshino, Miyako, Chishima, and Seiki (Myoko-Class)
CL Minase, Otonase, and Ayase
DD +4 Minekaze-Class
SS +3 ML SS and +4 I-Boats
The Treaty comes a year later than historical allowing for Mutsu to be completed without a fight as well as bringing Tosa to completion. Japan gains the 70% Ratio allowing for Ishitaka, Chichibu, and Ryukaku. The construction of four follow-on Myoko-Class CA comes PRIOR to the London Conference.
Circle One Plan (1930)
CA Kako, Aoba, Furutaka, and Kinugasa down-gunned from 8” to 6” CLs
CL Mogami. Mikuma, Suzuyu and Kumano (6”)
CAV Kushiro and Tokachi
CVL Karasu
+2 DD Shiratsuyu-Class
London goes slightly better for Japan. The Flightdeck Cruiser idea is allowed to occur and Japan abuses the Treaty by building Kushiro and Tokachi claiming a lower tonnage then what they actually possess. CVL Karasu builds on Ryukaku and fills out remaining Japanese carrier tonnage.
Circle Two Plan (1934)
CV Hiryu and Soryu as Hiryu-Class
2 CA Niitaka-Class
CS Mizuho added as 3rd Chitose-Class CS
+2 DD Asashio-Class
Japan KNOWS it is leaving the Treaty system so Soryu and Hiryu are built as true sisters. The two CAs replace CA Tone and Chiluma.
Circle Three Plan (1937)
CV Shokaku and Zuikaku
CS Nisshin built as CVL
2 B-65-Class
2 CA Niitaka-Class
DD +3 Kagero-Class (not as dummy Yamato-Class Decoys)
No Katori-Class Training Cruisers (old CLs used instead)
CLAA Teshio-Class begins instead of the Agano-Class CL
Japan’s FLEET-minded, conservative Admirals are ousted by Nay Minister Yamamoto. The Yamato-Class is cancelled and the B-65s replace them. Another pair of CAs are added to the build.
Circle Four Plan (1940)
4 Shokaku-Class
CA 2 Niitaka-Class
With the clouds of war on the horizon, the Japanese scrap plans for more BBs (Shinano and Aki) as well as the designed Taiho and Unryu and add more of the a proven design with 4 Shokaku put onto the slipways.
Circle Five Plan (1941)
6 Hiryu-Class
CVL 4 Aso-Class (Teshio Conversions)
CA 2 Niitaka-Class
War is about to begin, the United States has the Two Ocean Naval Program and so Japan goes back to a faster, easier carrier design as a stop gap to counter the massed Allied naval construction underway.

Thought people might like to look at the build by the modified Circle Plans with the changes explained within narrative.

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Updated Allied Warships:
Additional/Changed Allied Ships to December 7, 1941
United States
CV Wasp (Yorktown-Class)
CVL King’s Mountain
CVE Langley and Eli
CLV Charlotte, Jacksonville, Anacostia, and Patuxent
BB Washington (Colorado-Class)
BC Constellation (Lexington-Class)
LBC Chesapeake
CA Rome and Burlington
DD +4 Mahan and +4 Farragut-Class
SS +3 Flying Fish-Class, +1 Argonaut-Class, and +1 Narwhal-Class
Following Admiral Platt and Captain Reeves fervent desires, the USN builds its two CLV (authorized under the London Treaty) AND two more. LOTS of other construction added and in the Fleet by 1941.
Some Cleveland-Class CL are converted into CVLs and several AV/AO-Classes are allowed to be converted during the war as emergency CVEs. Totals equal 3 CVL and 8 possible CVE. The CVL are automatic while the CVEs are player’s choice.
United Kingdom
BC Renown
CLAA Dido and Argonaut
DD +4 DD
SS +2 T-Class
Netherland East Indies
BB Prins Hendrik and Prins Willem
CL Eendract and Van Heemskerck
DD +4 DD
SS +3 SS
The Dutch arguably gain the most in this scenario. The Japanese increased build-up prods the Dutch to get construction of the Eendract, Van Heemskerck, Batch-3 DDs, and several more SS completed BEFORE the German Invasion. After the Destroyer-for-Bases Deal, Franklin Roosevelts turns—thru Lend-Lease—to the Dutch and offers them the elderly BB’s Texas and New York. The Dutch accept and the battleships are transferred in early-41. Though needing more crew and carrying American ‘volunteers,’ these old battleships give the Dutch some serious teeth.
Should be noted that these additions were all Real Life thoughts and topics prior to Dec 7th.
France
CL Jean de Vienne
DD +3 Le Hardi-Class
SS +4 (2 Pascal-Class and 2 Surcouf-Class)
The French also gain a powerful Battlecruiser TF in Late Spring 1942 with Strasbourg, Dunkerque, CA Algerie, CL Lamotte-Picquet, 3 DD, and 3 SS.
Australia
CAV Melbourne
DD +4 Admiralty S-Class
SS +2 T-Class
New Zealand
CAV Wellington
DD +2 Admiralty S-Class

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Thanks, John. I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around the changes with the Air-mod. So on the map, where would the Dutch buildup (additional warships) be mostly seen - Soerabaja and Palembang? Maybe also Balikpapan?
The Dutch have to know that if Japan is ramping things up in their navy then Japan is looking at their oil fields. Would the Dutch increase minefields? Would their forts be up a little higher than stock? Would they add more infantry or CDs?
Would the British do more of a buildup around Singapore and Burma, and probably further north in India?
It just seems the Dutch and the British, being on the frontline of the buildup, would have the strongest incentive to prep for the upcoming storm.

Regarding Allied Ships - BTS Air
Hi John - is the Wasp supposed to be on the board at the start of the war (7DEC41)? I see it in the build section as coming online in 1942. I can't find either of the CA (Rome, Burlington).

Re: A New Set of BTS, RA, and Treaty Mods
Michael and I just had a long talk on the phone and I am going to work on the Allied Side for the BTS--Air side of the Mod. It has been so long since I worked in the Mods, I forgot changes that we had already made to the American side.
Currently we have an extra Essex and 2 Independence coming in in 1943. The changes are going to be in 1944 and 1945. In 44 we will advance 3 45 Essex so the Americans get an even 10 for 1944. Changes to 1945 will be the advancement of CVB Midway to 4-45 and CVB Roosevelt to 8-45 as well as add 4 more Essex to the OOB reflecting American shipbuilding NOT slowing down as the end of the historical war approached. These are all real ships. The Americans simply slowed construction on them as the war was headed into the final phase.
Doing this allows for the American response to be factored in once it becomes obvious what the Japanese have been able to do. The Americans, pretty much NO MATTER WHAT reach parity and fly past the Japanese at some point in 1944.
Who wants to command a Midway-Class CVB??!!!

The Dutch are divided into several TFs. The main one with the old US BBs is at Soerabaja. The other two are a CL leading 4 DDs.
Like the Forts idea as well as MF. Michael--What do you think of that?
The Americans are already headed South towards Balikpapan. Notice the Americans have additional warships? An extra CA, CL, and 4 DDs. They also have an auxiliary base at Cebu.
The Brits already have more in Singers. The augmented Force Z, some extra Infantry, and the Hurricane Fighters are all there.
