Severa Observations on Weapons

Post by kritter »

I had built a scenario and noticed a few things and built this test to check it out.
First of all in this test I have fired a lot of lrasm-B at the US ship. When the ship sees the weapons it fires back.
2 things happen. First the 155/52mm AGS HVP weapons miss way too much and since I have lots of comms and mounts the missiles should be defeated easily. Second not all of the mounts fire even though they are autonomous.
As the missiles get closer the 127mm/62 HVP fire with a much higher rate of success.
As they get even closer the lasers fire but again not all of the mounts fire and the ship is destroyed.
Now replay it and as the missiles get close manually attack them and the whole ship lights up especially when they get close with lasers manually engaged.
This used to work much better in previous versions but it seems there is something missing in the logic.
I am using the latest version and database.

Not yet, sorry! We're currently in one of those glut periods. Please allow some more time.

The same errors still persist in latest rev.

Any chance this will get fixed in the next update?

Thanks

Was it called out in the change notes? I didn't see it.

The same thing is still happening. with the new release. I also updated the database to use 505.
The weapons still miss way too much and don't fire like they should.

We're looking the issue, the weapon allocation is set to use "all this weapons against this target", right now it's only allocating two rounds, but this could lead (if working as it should) to allocate all the weapons to the first missiles spotted, and not having enough for the other missiles. Probably a better aproach would be to use a high number like 20 or 30 rounds alloc for each target. Unfortunately this can not be done at the moment unless using Lua.

Regarding the intercept rate, we're looking the info but since the LRASM is sea-skimmer and with a low RCS this could be WAD.

Could you check in which version this works fine?

P.S: Using a platform with so many sensors/weapon systems, erroneous mounts, etc., it is most likely that it will not work as it should.

I do not remember which version worked but it was at least 4 versions back. If you wait until all of the missiles are visible and then manually allocate one HVP and one laser to each target it works as expected, and the way it used to. You will see all of the mounts fire and destroy the in coming missiles.

Thanks for looking into this.

Thanks for the test, very interesting.

I used the RQ-4A drone to help on the ship defense. In front of the incoming missiles barrages and to be effective, at minimum altitude.

Indeed it helped a lot, and the cruiser survived with no impacts.

What I noticed is that perhaps the rate of fire of the laser used by the drone is higher than the used by the ship when it is the same weapon?

The F-24A as a loss for both sides must be a bug.

And with the 3 Tiltrotor Valors in the air as a screen (besides the drone), that are also armed with lasers, you may defeat the barrage without the cruiser firing a single shot.

For some reason when you manually fire the lasers at the targets all of the mounts engage and the rate of fire is what you would expect. I am not sure why being a ship would make any differences. Also the other error is the HVP, it is supposed to be 90% but the longer range one is way less while the short range one is much higher.

Thanks for looking into this.

Strange.

I did not fire manually any of the lasers. All was done automatically.

For the second test, just launched the 3 tiltrotors and changed the RoE (WCS, air) of the cruiser to hold, so that did not fire to the incoming missiles.
