Serious issue with KEs: peace--> scrapped

Just completed a rather nice war with France for which I had 19 KEs on TP. Saved out last night and restarted it today.

I've just noticed (a few turns after peace broke out) that all my KEs which were in TP have been scrapped. Problem is, I didn't do it. 1.00.37

I now have a serious TP problem which will be hard to sort out before another war happens along.

You guys have a lot of nasty bugs in this game, for all its great merit _most_ of the time.

Sorry, that's WAD.

KEs of 500t or less can only be built in wartime and are considered to be impressed civilian (fishing) vessels - and are automatically scrapped at the end of the war.

This is covered on page 133 of the manual.

But all the 500 tonners were all converted DDs. Hardly impressed vessels...Navy all the way?

Converted DDs should not be scrapped. It's bugged I think unless something has changed.

Yes, that is different. The same issue has been highlighted on the NWS forums as well, albeit in the suggestions section.

I rather suspect it will need a new flag adding to cover such an instance, because AFAIK the game only tracks current class, and a fair bit of data gets ignored in conversions.

Yeah DDs rebuilt into corvettes for escort duty really shouldn't be scrapped like that, but it's an issue I remember running into way back in RtW2 days. If you keep a single torpedo tube and don't drop the speed too low and then the ship stays classed DD and there's no risk of the game selling the ship our from under you.

Using slow destroyers (sloops?) vs corvettes as trade protection ships is kinda weird though because despite being very similar ships they don't seem work quite the same way, I guess as a result of their classification. Corvettes will pretty regularly be encountering enemy surface raiders while the destroyer never will for example, which doesn't really make sense as the ships would be in the same place doing the same mission.
