The pocket at Belovodsk is finally destroyed but 7th Guards Army defending Boguchar has deployed 5 Tank Corps to counter our advance but with supply lines so far in the rear our troops are just simply not in any state to make any kind of push towards the town at this time, the Romanians troops suffering the most and need to rest and refit badly.

The biggest concern at this time though on the 4th Pz Armee / 6th Armee front where two Soviet Fronts 2nd Ukrainian and North Caucasus have massed a total of 12 Armies, it appears that it will only be a matter of time before the enemy attacks.
Both Army's have little in the way of reserves if the enemy manages to breakthrough the line.

After regaining almost all the lost ground from the previous weeks battles Army Group A reestablishes its front line along several rivers hoping these natural barriers will aid in the defence, Panzer forces also reseal the pocket once again trapping 1st Guards Inf Corps, 17th Armee destroys the last of the isolated troops behind our lines this now frees up more units for the front just in time as reports come in of more enemy Mech and Tank Corps advancing towards tour positions.

The enemy once again bringing more armour forward in preparation of another assault on our line.

Extreme weather this has curtailed Allied air operations to the minimum across Western Germany but the enemy still struck at two of our major industrial centres, the cities of Celle and Misburg were attacked with minor damage done to fuel refineries.
The enemy also conducted recon missions over Cologne to try to ascertain the level of damage on industry, I Jagd Corps engaging the enemy formation forcing them to abandon there mission.

In France and in the English Channel harsh weather also limited Allied operations though a number of air bases were bombed and there was a minor raid on Saarbruecken which caused little damage.

This weeks limited activity was a welcome relief giving our Air Defence forces a chance to rest and regroup however the news was not all good, The Allies did manage to launch a major raid, one longest into German territory so far.
RAF Bomber command struck at Vienna in Southern Germany damaging Heavy Industry facilities and Military Training Centres, air units caught off guard by this daring attack failed to intercept the large bomber force as it crossed the Channel into German airspace until it the enemy formations had been detected flying over Nuremberg.

With the weather not as harsh here in Italy Allied air units continued the saturation bombing our troop positions along the front line and also blanket recon of Rome and air bases as far as Florence, with command redeploying air units to new bases what limited Air Groups available were hard pressed to counter enemy raids.

The enemy also maintained its naval interdiction operations along the coast but in smaller numbers this time, what is of grave concern to Air Commanders this week is news there has been a incursion into Hungarian territory by long range recon planes, there target the town of Zalaegerszeg where vital fuel production facilities are based, this may be a prelude to a new bombing campaign of our Axis partners.

Italian Front
Situation Report Dec 11th 1943 Turn 24

This week sees a different situation across the front line from last week where the enemy had launched several massive assaults against Axis Forces, The Allies making no attacks at all against our heavily fortified positions, this gives Commanders time to reorganise and reposition there forces, at the salient on the Volturno River bend Von Arnim orders 3 / HG Panzer Div out of the line allowing LI Mountain ArmeeKorps 188th Gebirgs Div to move into the vacated area, I / 264 Inf Div moves over to reinforce the 338th Inf Div and the 164th Panzer Gren Div, 29th Pz Gren remains in reserve.
West of Rome on the coast the 15th Panzer division moves to take up defensive positions in case the Allies try to launch a seaborne landing to capture the Italian Capital, Intel reports that all 3 Allied airborne Div's are still stationed in front line positions, so the likelihood of the enemy launching an airborne assault behind our lines at this time seems small at this stage, but with large areas of coastline unguarded there is a real chance of a sea landing happening.

The advance towards Vologda slows as orders are given to deal with pockets first, the supply situation is precarious with rail lines being repaired at a snails pace in the region, however The Volkhov Front is in no shape for a full scale battle.

4th Armee makes some small advances but the bulk of the operations are centred around clearing pockets to free up all forces to have maximum numbers for the attack on Vladimir and Murom. In the Ryazan region the front line remains quiet 3rd Ukrainian Front troops disengaging from our forces and begin pulling back up to 10 miles.

Here to the front is quiet after Axis forces secure the last sector of territory needed to take full control of the Voronezh / Rostov rail link, with the heavy losses from the last few weeks of fighting 4th Ukrainian Front seems intent on holding back its armour rather than risk possible destruction, the Fronts 5 Tank Corps maintaining a defensive posture for now.

The expected major attack by 2nd Ukrainian Front against 4th Pz Armee failed to materialise, there was some skirmishes and Hoth's men launched some counterattacks but there was a general relief among the troops that the enemy for the most part chose to launch scouting attacks.

18th Armee troops begin to arrive to reinforce the front line in The Caucuses, the enemy launches some minor attacks against 6th Armee but the line holds and we retake lost ground, further Southeast 17th Armee launches counterattacks and also retakes ground, on the coast Soviet 1st Guards Corps remains cutoff however our own troops are to weak to launch a decisive blow so the enemy for the time being will remain isolated.

The week the Allies air raids were back in force with devastating effect on our manufacturing facilities, in Northwestern Germany large raids between 200 hundred to 400 hundred bombers hit targets from Bremen to Stettin, the Hannover region was attacked multiple times, the enemy suffered heavy losses but seem to willing accept the high numbers of aircraft lost in the raids, our own forces were to few and far between to engage every raid, a wide variety of industry was hit Stettin's synthetic fuel factories taking 60 % damage in one raid alone.

After the lull in fighting last week The Allies attacked with renewed determination across the front, at Grazzanise US VI Brit X and XXX Corps launch an attack with 5 to 1 in manpower numbers against Von Arnim's Pz troops, fought to a standstill the assault fails and the Allies withdraw, at the salient Gen Balck's men supported by Panzer's from HG Pz Div are attacked by 3 Allied Corps, the enemy trying to push out Axis troops dug in along the river, our forces hold as the enemy surfers large losses, a second attack also fails with more losses to the enemy. On Balck's right flank the newly arrived 188th Mountain face a US / Can attack hoping to dislodge Feuerstein's men from there positions, the attack is a complete failure resulting the enemy taking heavy losses. The Allies launch 5 more attacks against our lines hoping to create a breakthrough but 10th Armee and 5 Pz Armee units repel the enemy advance.

Still no orders from Von Kuechler ( AG North ) for 16th Armee to advance towards Kostroma and Ivanovo, both cities defended by a cobbled together collection Red Army units from The Bryansk Front.
The main battle is centred around Vladimir as 4th Armee and 9th Armee push forward, 11th Guards Corps attempts to break out of its encirclement but fails, the enemy is unable to launch any large scale attacks so the city should fall soon.

At Voronezh 2nd Armee's VII ArmeeKorps and LV ArmeeKorps Infantry are spread out along an 100 mile front trying to defend the city as enemy troops begin to advance forward, the good news is both ArmeeKorps have 2 Panzer div's in reserve.

Further South the enemy launches an attack towards Kantemirovka forcing back our troops but then withdrawing allowing us to recapture the lost ground.

The situation along 4th Pz Armee front remains fluid at this time, the 2nd and 4th Ukrainian Fronts launched major attacks breaking through our Infantry positions, XXXXVIII Pz Korps counterattacking and pushing enemy armour back and restoring the line. The front line is only 100 miles from Rostov despite all of the victories in the past year, if the enemy can mass enough troops for a major offensive the city could be taken and leaving Army Group A under threat of being cut off.
