Scenario 10 or Scenario 102?

Post by Nezlezar »

Looking to start a GC as the Allies against Japan AI on something other than the stock scenario #1. In trying to follow the years worth of discussion and updates, it looks like there is an updated Ironman scenario and then a revisited AI ("I need Help - AI Testing") version of the same one. I think the tier I version would suit me best. The Nasty T2 and NN T3 seem to be a bit too ridiculous as I am still fairly new. I want Japan to have more fuel/supplies/ships/aircraft/pilots without magically giving them a new fleet that invades Portland in '42 (I'm exaggerating here, but for all I know, that stuff happens in NN lol).

That being said, should I be using the #10 scenario from https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8#p2777108

OR

Scenario #102 from post 3 https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 9#p3876499

I play on 26b and don't know if scenario #102 got to a 'finished' stable/state or had problems.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. It is a lot for a new player to try and catch up on.

Also, I don't see any description or text in the scenario startup/notes section when you load it the first time in game. Another reason why I thought perhaps it was not finished. That, or I did not install it properly.

There actually is a milder version of Ironman currently included in the game listed as Scenario 004. However, the scenario description is in serious error describing it as a 1942 start scenario. It actually starts in December '41. This might be the official version of the tier one (T1) scenario you listed above.

I have the updated scenarios from https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6#p3050326. My list looks way different than yours so now I am even more confused.

Platoonist was showing the scenario list from the most recent update. I've played the older Ironman scenarios and they were fun but the most recent update is better. I'm playing scenario 4 now and it is quite a challenge and the AI seems to be making good decisions for the most part.
One thing, if you get the update and decide you want to play scenario 4, you should go into the editor first and bump up the daily supply for the Eastern US, otherwise you'll find yourself running out of supply as the war goes on (as other players pointed out). The daily supply is set at 1000, supposed to be around 60k. I bumped it up to 30k plus added supply at San Fran just to make sure. No issues with supply in my game (Stateside, anyway).

This (among other things) is supposed to be fixed in the next update but it's anybody's guess as to when that will be released.

By that, do you mean 1127? If so, I'll go ahead and do a new install and try it out.

Semi-related question regarding it...the changelog shows hardly anything really changing compared to 26b. Is that all that was changed or is the changelog just not showing it all?

1. Ninth Update – This release is a comprehensive release updating all previous
versions to v1.01.27
2. Code Changes
1. Naval support not present at 0(0) port once port is built up
2. Another underway ammo replenishment issue if AE unable to reload the biggest weapon on
ship
3. Drawing ship a/c from pool at base uses replacement group if nearby
4. Tweak what is an 'instructor' for TRACOM purposes and allow casualties to them
5. Tweak group training mission not getting many op losses for low experience pilots
(increased fatigue of low experienced pilots and aircraft)
6. Aircraft upgrading to blank airframe
7. Mines not removed from ships in non-ML taskforce
8. Repair/maint of seaplane not expending supply (1 point per plane from tender supply if more
than seaplane support at base). Exceeding support did expend normal supply.
9. Added confirmation to ‘Disband TF’ button

I don't know why but the 11.27 changelog didn't mention all the new off-map bases that were included. Suez, Gibraltar, New Orleans, Jamaica, etc. Not to mention a few new on-map locations.

However, it sounds this map isn't going to be used in the last patch unless you request it specifically. I get the feeling it wasn't warmly received as it just added more micromanagement to a mountain of micromanagement.

Those bases are not included in the new beta.
