Divided squadron

Post by Gratch1111 »

So is it always possible to reattach a unit to its "mother"?

I have two units, the only difference is that one has Det after the unit name. They are at the same location, have the same aircraft and the same HQ, but the option to reattach doesnt come up. It is divided from the start, I didnt not de attach it so to speak. Funny enough, both can be divided into smaller units.

So is this a thing with some units? Its the No.11 Sqn RAAF in this case

A picture please but it may be better to keep them separate.

Check to see if they have the same parent HQ? That can sometimes cause problems.

They have different devices (aircraft) so they cannot combine. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is disband the Detachment, then the parent will be able to take the balance of its TOE.

Some squadrons that are Dets of others at the start of a scenario cannot be reattached because they were not coded properly.

As others have said. In theory yes, provided they are same type and HQ. There can also be some database errors. Note that some detachments will always remain so as the parent unit never enters play. Sometimes these can become full units, sometimes they are withdrawn, sometimes it's two or more years before the parent does enter play.

I've just check the database. In this case the Det is renamed the 33rd RAAF sqn in Feb 42. The game prevents you form re-combining for this reason. They are also different aircraft.
