Can't interact with map after error

Post by avinash10 »

Dear mods/devs,

Whenever I play Command: Modern Operations, after some time I get an error message (see attachment).
After I get the error message, I cannot interact with the map. All other buttons on top work fine, just the map won't work: I can't pan around, (de)select units or otherwise do actions on the map.
Sometimes I can just restart the game and everything works fine (until I inevitably get the error message again) and other time I have to restart my PC for it to work.

Now, at first I figured that this had to do with the scenario's I'm playing and that they might end up being broken, however, this time it gave me the error on startup.

The build I am using is 1328.18 and this is the Steam edition. As this doesn't necessarily happen on a savegame, I did not include one.
Some specs as well:
Intel Core i9-13900K
MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI Z790
D5 64GB 4800-38 Beast XMP
SSD 4TB 5.0/4.4 MP600COREXT bk M.2
Asus24GB D6X RTX 4090 ROG STRIX
MS SB Windows 11 Pro 64bit NL

If you need any more information, please leave me a message.

Hello,
Thank you for reporting this bug.
Could you please send us the exception log file ?
Also as a general rule make sure to run Command in administrator.

This sort of issue can be caused by third party process and program that interfere with rendering, such as Nahimic, NvidiaShare, RivaTuner, Raptr, MSIAfterburn etc...
We managed to identify some of them and we display a warning during startup when such program is detected.
If you get such message, make sure to kill the designated process.

However, this list is far from being an exhaustive census and other programs can meddle with rendering backend.
See if any software could create this issue, likely one that affects graphics, overlays etc...

Can you make sure no other programs are running at the same time? This especially includes GPU-"helper" programs like RivaTuner, Nahimic, MSI Afterburner, AMD-whatever etc. etc.

Other usual suspects:
* Is the OS fully updated? Graphics drivers updated? Direct-X 11 installed?
* Is Command running as admin? (ie. prompting you "are you sure you want to run this program" when you launch it)
* (Steam only) Are Steam overlays disabled for Command?
* (Steam only) Is Direct-Write disabled on the Steam client?
* Are you using a high-DPI desktop? (ie. font size >100%)
* Are you using Norton antivirus? (This POS is very frequently silently blocking file updates)
* Can we see your DxDiag file?
