[Fixed]Units Don't Stop Circling Assemble Waypoint

Post by FifthDomain »

Good Evening

Build: Steam 1328.18
DB: DB3K_505

It seems some members of a group on a flight plan are getting stuck at the second waypoint (Assemble) and just flying round in a circle.

To see the behaviour:

In the attached save, the Package Ferry 007 in the Search and Rescue Task Pool, which is 8x HH-60W in two groups of four with a flight plan for each group. They will take off from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and fly to Prudhoe Bay Airport. All the aircraft take off and meet at the assembly point (Way Point 2) some of them progress to the next way point while some just appear to stay at that way point flying in circles. I have also included a save from before the start incase you want to watch from the start.

If this helps, I noticed it seems to think not all of the aircraft have taken off. When I delete a "Stuck" flight plan and try to create a new one I get a message that says "Not all the aircraft in the flight may take off" (or something like that) even though all aircraft in the mission are already airborne.

If this doesn't help sorry for wasting your time.

Here's an example (if it helps). I added several WPs with the Mission Editor including two Refueling Points. I also added other WPs to adjust elevation to keep flights below the radar horizon. I don't know if adding the WPs is part of the issue, but it isn't random, I ran this three times with the same result. Again, I hope it helps.

Generally, I don't think its just about adding waypoints. There are a few threads about aircraft circling waypoints on flight paths.

I gave up with it in the end. I only created it to make a report on tick boxes not working in support missions for refueling in that specific situation. I had a look at the one posted by BeirutDude i set it running the planes ran out of fuel and crashed seemed stuck on reference point 3 (Hold End).

I was going to post about this bug too but found your thread.

I was investigating this and found that if I changed the hold time on the assemble waypoint that the aircraft would proceed to the next. The default hold time for an auto generated assemble waypoint is 0, but for a user created assemble waypoint it is 10 minutes. This is how I discovered the workaround.
