Filter-out

Post by rhnelson »

I'm trying to use a "filter-out" command on non-combatant units to reduce the clutter on the screen, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I've searched the manual and the forums and found nothing. Am I doing some thing incorrectly?

When you filter out contacts, the icon of the unit becomes dimmer (ghosted), but does not disappear completely.

I think there is not an option to remove them completely, because when you drop a contact, it is gone, but reappears when is detected again.

"Filter-out" basically means that all of the relevant ranges of the contact will no longer be shown. It's basically meant to be used against units that you've disabled (such as a SAM who's out of ammunition or whose radar is no longer functional) but not completely destroyed.

Might be easier just to post from the manual:

"You can now filter-out a selected contact (“Filter-out”
command on the contact context/right-click menu). Filtered-out
contacts are shown ghosted and no information on their movement
vector, sensor & weapon range symbols and AoU is presented on the
map. This can be useful if you have a lot of contacts of no interest (e.g
neutrals) on the map and want to eliminate the clutter they create. "

That is my intention, and I did read the manual, however there is no dimming nor a change of any kind.

On my screen, the contacts are dimmed out when filter is on. 1328.18

Let us check if the dimming/ghosting needs a tweak to make it even more pronounced.

This is what I see in a less crowded scenario, displaying or filtering out all contacts.

Map view, just borders + coastlines.

I guess I see your issue. Have you tried to change the Emission settings?

I suggest to switch to "Selected Contact" and "All Emissions for selected Contact, Fire-Control for Rest only".

I also recommend to use the drop down menu instead of filtering every single one contact.
