Larry thank you for doing this AAR just because viewer from California demanded it
Will read this carefully.
I see that you like Gary Grisby War in the Pacific AE.... I suggest that you try WITE2 which is masterpiece!
I am playing third time as Axis and having a blast! So much that I put Directive 21 on hold Turn 54.
All best Larry!

Thank you MonkeyBrain3 dude. I really appreciate you posting your thoughts here. This AAR is for both of us. I really like WITP-AE but it moves really slowly. One day at a time if you'd like. That makes every game a long-term affair and very few games go to the end. Too slow for my taste but it makes for an extreemly detailed feature-rich game. Each individual pilot. Every single individual ship. I bought it for $80 about a decade ago and it turns out that it's worth it. But my favorite game is TOAW because of it has a good balance of detail and abstraction to make it fun to play it. And you can construct your own scenarios. I gave some thought to maybe putting together a "China - Taiwan" scenario but discovered how much work that would cost, how long it would take, and the data that I would need ( OOB, TOE, etc. ) and decided it was a task for a much younger person.MonkeyBrain3 wrote: Sun May 05, 2024 12:42 pm Larry thank you for doing this AAR just because viewer from California demanded it

D21 is probably my favorite scenario. I've played it probably 20 times now and I'm beginning to get good at it. I love our community and really appreciate all the support you guys provide. I'm not an expert but I have learned a lot since I joined this forum. My experience has proved that Bob Cross really knows his way around TOAW. I dare you to try to ask him a question about TOAW that he doesn't know the answer for. He's the head of development for TOAW and there's a good reason for that.
I'm glad you're having fun. Let me know if there's something you'd like to know more about my game because I'm playing it for you guys. Post again, please.

Hi Larry,
Thank you very much.
Much appreciate your AAR. Maybe you can outline Von Manstein plans for speedy conquest of Leningrad?
It can be done - it is tricky because all those fortresses but it can br done relatively light losses during mud or so.
I have done it, forgot turn number.
Now I am on my way to capture Murmansk from south side and Secastopol.
I am in the middle of Soviet Winter Ofensive but hanging on by tooth because I have somewhat prepared for it.
No further attacks except some local Sevastopol, Murmansk etc. Moscow attack in the Spring 1942.
Very good game! So much fun.
But, Gary Grisby War in the East 2.... Oh my God, I will feint, haha, I have pocketed at least 50-60 Soviet divisions on turn 4 July 13 1941. Oh boy that game is so much fun!
I am almost finished with turn 4 so maybe some 30000 up but I inflicted this casualties:
almost 6000 Soviet planes, this turn 1162, 1445225 Soviet casualties, 25630 Guns, 7542 tanks....captured Soviets: 935956.
But, I will get back to Directive 21, I want to see 1942 offensive hehe, 1943. tigers....
Wish you luck in your game Larry.

Different strokes for different people I guess. Right now it's 15:37 Sunday May 5 2024 and I'm working on T3 of my D21 game and I seem to be doing okie dokie and it's more fun than I deserve. I took a long nap this morning to get caught up on my sleep and now I'm ready to go until about midnight. Then another nap and then from about 02:30 until about 07:00 I'll hit it again. I'm retired so when I get hungry I eat something and when I get tired I go lay down. I live by myself so my routine works for me just fine. Nothing I'd rather do.

TOAW is overall best game out there.
But, for instance, WiTE 2 is not that complicated at all. Mostly I leave air war to AI and it is OK so I can play turns faster.
Franky those Air Manual rules are kind of rudiculous but game has that modern interface who wants to dive into it - which really have some cool features.
I will play TOAW 4 some more and make a report to you.

Okie dokie....I've moved everybody and I'm ready to pull the trigger. 19 battles are scheduled and I've already shot down a lot of Soviet planes and about 60% of my turn remains so I should get about 2 more combat phases, I hope.
