Victory conditions rework.

Post by warhmetal40k »

The victory conditions are very underwhelming for me. I enjoy slowly building a massive war machine and destroy strong empires on my path. So either I win just as I get good and I get spammed every turn with a message saying I won or lost and it is annoying. Especially at higher difficulty like impossible where I can loose without ever seeing the empire that beat me simply because they rushed the tank tech and conquered cities that were close to them.

I'd really prefer if there was an alternative victory option where I can win or loose only at 90% conquest.

If that's not possible, could the victory or defeat message stop after one turn?

I got it that I lost or won, but I want to keep playing.

For me, perhaps not underwhelming, but certainly one-dimensional which is ironic since the game has so MANY dimensions. I wonder if some sort of weighted victory point objectives could be tied to regime profile. This would (a) make it difficult and interesting for opponents to predict your grand strategy (right now grand strategy is one dimension: take more territory) and (b) over time, you could shift your VP as your regime profile shifts.

Some VP approach like that might be very interesting.

For example - as a quick off-the-cuff idea could be something like this:

Politics
Democracy - VP for population support
Autocracy - VP for population of regime
Meritocracy - VP for admin level

Society
Commerce - VP for worker support
Government - VP for civilization Level
Enforcement - VP for soldier Support

Psychology
Fist - VP for territory occupied
Mind - VP for tech level
Heart - VP for soldier morale
