RE: Marlblehead engagement above, she also had another fight later. During both fights the Marblehead hardly fired a shot, in fact only one forward battery shot across two engagements. I check the Captain, and lo and behold I put a very high Naval and very low aggression, under 40, to skipper her.
I need to experiment more with low aggression naval skippers....

Some good action with our sweeps and....forward movement in China. Going to need to allow the AAA to advance with our stacks, rather than flying LRCAP over our lead elements I think. Japan has a Destroyer and an E operating out of Hong Kong still. The other raiders have retreated...

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Nice one. What does the mouseover say about Pescadores now? I like to capture that one as it's good for repairing destroyers, LSTs and other small stuff. Still, neutralizing it also helps.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Always good to probe with USN Destroyers....Wenchow is Port 3, so I would need to double check to see if those light cruisers can be rearmed. I think most likely.

Japan is sending a destroyer task force forward, they are the masters of long range cap traps. I set three Hellcat squadrons to escort one Helldiver squadron...hope they coordinate.

Disappointing results. Our next attack we will fly in very low I think....hopefully getting those Frank Rs out of the picture. And fly with a lot. Or just let them be and eventually the Fletchers will deal with them.

Captured Swatow on the Chinese coast, Benkoelen west of Palembang, and Boela (one of the small southern oil bases in the SRA SW of Sorong). I guess I will ship the oil to Australia.
Hopefully our SAGs will close with the juicy IJN fleet of Formosa on the morrow.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
A serious question or two, if you had a fighter unit on 10% Low Naval or Naval Attack with 90% Escort, do you think that would work? Maybe even have some fighters on Escort at the same base or TF with 100% escort but with a higher altitude while setting the ranges so those fighters on Escort will only have the attacking fighters to escort?
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

So put the fighter on Naval attack, rest 90%? I don't understand the 90% escort setting....
I have escorted strafing fighters and it seems to increase detection levels....once enemy fighters show up the strafing fighters tend to drop their bombs and dogfight.
A good tactic is to set some heavy bombers on naval attack high up with lots of fighter squadron escorts. If you chose a fractional unit of HB, it is often easier to get the escorting fighters to sweep ahead. So 4 B24Js escorted by 25 Jugs for example all very high.
Another good tactic is Avengers on night attack...
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Avengers are really great planes, with drop tanks they can search out to 11 hexes....but the search function at night is so darn useful, and then of course is the fact that there are so many Avenger squadrons and planes in the pool to play with.
