I've operated plenty of non-carrier trained squadrons on carriers in game and found the ops loss increase to be negligible. It's a non-issue to me. The need for aircraft on carriers exceeds my concern for the miniscule ops loss increase you may see prior to the 90-days.
I agree 100%. Not that I'm omniscient, but I haven't noticed anything worse than normal regarding ops losses. Key word being "noticed."

OK tests are now complete. It takes approx 90 days to carrier train a unit. There appeares to be some small random element involved and the time does not have to be consecutive. See these examples.
A DB unit was placed on a cve t182 and trained t267.
Anothe unit was placed on a cve t178 and trained t267 and that included a transfer to a different cve.
Third one was placed on a cve t182, transfered to a base t237 and back to a carrier t239 and becme fully trained t272.

Think you meant t272 at the very end ...

Chris - in any case, thanks for testing to confirm. The 90 days agrees with my play in the last few years. As IJ, you almost always move some untrained groups onto your CV's on Dec 7 as the KB is hard coded* to not have full complements until July 42.

* Yeah, you can't change this even in the editor except by creating new KB airgroups and not using the original airgroup slots.

I don't know how you guys do it but I detach my carrier-air-groups from the carrier and let them fight on their own from remote airfields and i rebased them constantly where there are needed and I think they do great havoc.

If a carrier needs to go to dry-dock for months I think its a reasonable tactic. How do you guys do it. What did carrier-air-groups do in real life if their carrier was in dry-dock? Just curious.

Sending your highly trained carrier pilots to small bases to fight there is a great way to lose them.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Every soldier is needed. I am doing everything I can to destroy and hamper the Japanese operations. It is early 1942. I am sad to loose soldiers but my goal is to keep the war as short as possible. May god have mercy for the casualties of this war.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

I am playing Hakko Ichio at very hard as allied.
