Help with fresh install

So I'm wanting to try again with it. Can anyone help, please - what do I install now to get a playable game on a win 11 machine?

From Matrix I see 3 downloads: 1. the base game 1.0079 of sept 2009, 2. update 1.01.26a from march 2015, 3. 1127beta from nov 2022

Do Install all three in that order? And that's it? No more updates after that? And does it work in win 11?

Just install those two items and wait for the patch that's currently pending. The game does work in Win 11, but it may take some priming with the switches to prevent lag and graphic glitches.

I have the graphic glitch in the combat replays (doubled gittery images) - do you have any hints as to what switches to try?

The -deepColor and -dd_sw switches seem to solve most graphic issues. You could also try the -noFire switch which omits showing explosions, waterspouts and weapon shooting in combat animations.

4K monitors do not work...or at least mine didn't. Not even the command line changes did anything. Not even setting the game resolution in the command line to 1920x1080 worked.

Once I changed the monitor resolution to 1920x1080, it worked far better than I had ever imagined. Before this, the screen was more scrambled than my brain after a 48 hour shift.

I did not try any larger resolution. Given the state of my eyesight, 1920x1080 is pushing it some {nearby magnifying glass for any problems}.
