Third Battle of Torreon - Mexican Revolution

Post by HerrDak »

Greetings

I have recently returned playing TOAW and I have the curiosity to create my own scenarios.

I have decided to start with something very small and for that reason I decided to make a scenario about the third battle of Torreon that took place during the Mexican Revolution, where the forces of the North Division under the command of Francisco Villa faced the Nazas Division of the Federal Army commanded by General Manuel Velasco. This was one of the most important and bloody battles of the MExican Revolution.

The scenario will be on a 500 M hex scale and with battalion level units.

I hope to combine realism and balance for playability.

The development of the scenario will be slow due to my occupations, but I will put my advances and also I will surely be requesting for some advice.

So far I have developed the scenario and the order of battle for both forces.

Greetings!

Great start, and a great, unusual, topic for a scenario.

Greetings:

Im still working in my scenario and is almost finished but I have some doubts.

1) ¿How can I eliminate a supply source once I put it on the map?

2) I made the river with shallow water. The units can cross it with the road across it, but it seems impossible with rail movement. ¿Is there any way the units can cross the shallow water using rail movement?

¡Thanks!

Set its value to 0.

They must be embarked. To embark, there must be enough rail capacity to lift their weight (they also must not have moved and must begin on an unbroken rail hex).

The units are embarked and on an unbroken rail hex. The units just cant pass the shallow water hexes. The movement arrow stops before the shallow water hexes.

Check the hex ownership. (Note that you're not displaying hex ownership).

Hi Bob.

I cant put ownership to the shallow water hexes in the editor. All other hexes are controlled by the force that is trying to move the units across the shallow water river (brown force).

Look at the scenario in the Editor. Temporarily change the two bridge hexes to clear terrain. Then switch to Deployment Mode and check the ownership of those two hexes.

Im working with the equipment editor and training to make more complex scenarios.

Here is "El Niño", the biggest gun of the Mexican Federal Army that was captured by Francisco Villa and saw some action at the third battle of Torreon. Due to its weight, it was transported by train on an armored platform.

Hello.

I have a doubt. ¿What would be good engineering and entrenchment rates for a 6hour turns on a 500M per Hex scenario?

¡Thanks!

I finished the first version of the scenario. This is my first scenario so there may be different kind of errors but I think its playable.

I think I already learn all the basic things about scenario design. I will try with a more complex scenario.
