I am not stopping, DW, just don't want to waste my time doing the AAR while I watch the replay. I miss a lot of the flavor of the game....sad the developers could never squash this bug. Hats off to AFB PBEM players that play thru it.DesertWolf101 wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 10:56 pm I understand your frustrations Lowpe, but I will echo some of the previous posters. The WITP AE community remains very vibrant (arguably even more so now), but the vast majority of players have migrated to Youtube and especially discord. I myself, despite having posted frequently here in the past, have done so as well. Nevertheless, it is still nice to see AARs in the old format still going here. There are some advnatages to posting in the forum that you don't get in discord, notably a more accessible and permanent record.
Cheers.

Been toying with strategic bombing, from the giving end. It seems the trick is as low as you can go. 30k precision bombing just misses....there might be a place for that though as a distraction or to spread the CAP. For example bomb Tokyo that high, while the real attack hits a neighboring base.RangerJoe wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 9:16 pm I enjoy your AAR, it is the first one that I will look at. Not that I can give a lot of advice to you on tactics or strategy but I can sometimes give advice on how things work like device upgrades. The only advice that I think would be useful is "Find the bastards and pile on!" by Major General George Smith Patton.

I think 5k for 500 pounders and 3k for 250 pounders. Just made that up.

I prefer the AARs here, they are so much easier to see. I don't watch youtube videos of the replays, it takes so much more time when I can read and see a picture so much faster.DesertWolf101 wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 10:56 pm I understand your frustrations Lowpe, but I will echo some of the previous posters. I hear you. Especially for the time constrained, the written presentation is often better than the video presentation. Written AARs are also regularly done in discord (it's what I do now myself) it's just harder to go back and search through the AARs there compared to the forum.RangerJoe wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2024 12:26 amI prefer the AARs here, they are so much easier to see. The main advantage of the discord however is the sheer number of active players/community there now. More than a hundred active players with more than 30 AARs currently taking place at present and growing. The cutting edge in gameplay tactics and strategy has also clearly shifted to discord as well, with old players like Nemo/Loka etc. joining in with rising stars there as well. As you saw, the game code is also now much better understood there given the significant access to game code that has been opened.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
I am also in the forum AAR camp. I read them at work. No headphones and I'm too old to like Discord. This AAR is my primary read after checking emails at the office in the morning.
In my experience, a base's shipyard capacity for the Allies after capture is 100% of the repair yard capacity and 50% of the merchant and naval yards. So, once you take Shanghai, the yard would be worth 50 (the repair yard capacity) plus 15 (half the merchant yard capacity), or 65 once repaired. [For new players: Note that in mouseovers the yard capacity shown will be one higher than actual, a known bug which isn't worth fixing in my opinion.]
Once you take Nagasaki, you'll never have to send another ship home again. The yard will be worth something like 250 once repaired.
EDIT: I checked Discord and it looks like there's a Jochen Heiden AAR Youtube link every few days and not much else. DesertWolf101: Do you have a link to other AARs?
Cheers,
CB

One more day to open the hexside to Shaohing from Ningpo.

My apologies in advance to you Lowpe for taking space in your AAR on this topic. Since both JohnDilworth and CB have asked, please allow me to give a quick answer.
You can access the discord (adminstered by Jochen) through this link (which expires in 7 days): https://discord.gg/hWVEdTcC
Within that discord server (think of it as a forum of sorts), each player has their own channel in which they post their AARs.

I think she took 4 250kg hits...damage isn't really bad. Only 41 naval support at Ningpo currently, but that will improve shortly. Japan used Vals, which goes to show how depleted their strike force is currently...but they will build their way out of that rather quickly I suspect.
