If Nagato didn't sink, she is in Shanghai in the shipyard or pier mode. Maybe with some other warships from the skirmish. :D
Any reported sinking on the Ops report is always correct.

Yes, but only with regards to the latest turn. Meaning that ships confirmed sunk for dates before the latest turn will be accurate. And if you do not have a synch bug, the report can be considered entirely accurate.

Wow....what carnage...

Had some transports testing the air around Ningpo, and they got more soldiers and support in, but we did lose one plane to A2A....which I am guessing was there.

The only other ship in danger is the Fletcher, O'Bannon, as it is currently in a 2 ship task force in Shanghai Harbor.

Lost two USMC Corsair Squadrons....ouch! and One Hellcat Squadron....so Japan picked good CVEs to sink.

Lots of Japanese float planes down. Chikuma is I think still alive, disbanded into a 0 size base at Sidate, next to Manado in the SRA.

I can't find hide nor hair of Nagato, and I think she must have gone down, along with Mogami and Kumano to balance out the float plane losses. Isn't Mogami one of those strange cruisers that can be converted to carry a tone of float planes?

Our big raid on Canton wasn't as bad as it seems, since I ran heavies into Babeldaob by mistake ....but still coordinating is just so iffy. There is a work around, but I don't want to do it.

If I remember correctly, Hiroshima gets the 2nd best static AAA gun emplacements, and the they really expand in March/April.

Cleveland was with Spruance and the CV fleet...she savaged the light cruiser SAG, but did it with 5" shells....interesting that the rear guns fired so much.

Turn is finished.

I gave serious thought to sending the heavy cruisers out again, hunting the KB as I figure they will threaten Ningpo....but, instead decided to bombard Shanghai and Wenchow again, while the Deathstar, what is left of it, reorganizes around Wenchow.

Ningpo should advance to a level 2 runway....doubling our fighter presence.

Our troop transports are making a flank speed run to Foochow....for the next wave. Three fresh Essesx CVs are approaching Foochow along with more CVEs and more Fletchers, of course.

Hunting the heavy Cruiser around Sidate....using lots of tools, there.

Jan 28, 1944

We surge PT Boat squadrons, a Fletcher DD force, and a Heavy Cruiser force into Shanghai....the Heavy Cruisers are to bombard if they get the chance.

Otherwise, evacuating Ningpo....since I guess there will be heavy bombing here as each day there have been a lot of ships disbanded in port. Against my better judgement, I include the damaged Shropshire, and a damaged CVE. Both can make 3 hexes a phase....

The PT Boats head in and skirmish with the CL Isuzu (which is not sunk, and we miss with four torpedo spreads);, an IJN SAG led by heavy cruisers Tone and Mikuma, and then our DESRON tangles with the Tone SAG....

we fire on the surprised IJN,but our first few hits bounce off the heavy cruisers armor and our torpedoes miss:

Over in the SRA, this lone destroyer encounters our PT boat screens and simply bypasses them with no engagement. There must be 200 planes on naval strikes at all altitudes plus lots searching, and a SAG very close, but still the destroyer gets thru and savages a supply convoy.

As expected Japan hits Ningpo hard, and the last attack of the day is a sweep by 88 Frank Rs....so we inflict some decent losses. Our 3.7 cm AAA keeps the IJ bombers fairly high and they don't manage to score any hits.

Weather in hex: Heavy rain

Raid detected at 60 NM, estimated altitude 19,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 25 minutes
