Allied Avalanche Campaign Ends Too Early, IMHO

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Allied Avalanche Campaign Ends Too Early, IMHO

Post by boogabooga »

I managed to beat the BTR Avalanche Campaign in 24 turns (see attached). Honestly, I was a bit disappointed because I was hoping to play this one out. I'm not so interested in the gamey score-keeping; I really wish that a human player can decline a victory against AI and keep playing. The fun for me is seeing what decisions I make compared to historical.

Besides, I don't think that it was really going THAT well. I had very high losses and only damaged the Avalanche targets a little bit. Most of the points were for area captured, which I did not have much control over. The enemy troop disruption seems to have come mostly from ground combat.

Can anyone that understands the BTR model look at my attached save and tell me what was going so well for the allies that it merited victory in half of the allotted time? (This isn't a humble brag, I genuinely believe that the scoring model might need tweaked).

I took a look and I see what you are saying about nothing spectacular. Most if not all of the German groups that relocated from the south are still in transit (i.e. not ready) and the delay of those points put the nail in the coffin.

This one was very difficult to balance (see readme) and is probably best played as the Axis.

Avalanche is my favorite Allied campaign, though. I love how beautifully exotic it is in terms of aircraft variety...on both sides.

I played this as the Axis and was very lucky to get the win. A competent Allied player will nail this.
