Combat report below:
It is also very good at dodging CAP (flew high at 32K)
The fact that it doesn't carry ordinance means against CAs/ BBs and sometimes even CLs it won't penetrate the deck and simply bounces off.
However against CVs/CVLs, CVEs (especially CVEs), DDs and assault shipping, it is lethal. I have purposely been flying 9 at a time to limit its lethality but I have the ability to mass up to 18 in a formation and soon even more. Hence the reason now to nip it in the bud before it becomes a potential game killer.

A stack of units have poured into Korea and China from the Central Pacific.
So many have arrived, I have actually been able to form a reserve at a couple of key locations. Feeling much better about the situation.
He could walk into the Central Pacific now but if he is on the door step of Shanghai, then who cares!

Close to having the Allied invasion at Ningpo sealed off and then it is off to resolve the situation around Canton.
He is going to need a lot more forces to achieve a breakthrough in both localities.

Which does make me wonder about up here.
Sig traffic is picking up around Dutch Harbour and Pearl.
A give away will be if I start to see recon undertaken on the bases up north. Recon on bases in Korea have ceased which is interesting...
The North is still very strongly held and defended so he will get a warm reception if he pushes down near Hokkaido.

Strongly held positions- divisional strength.
Trying to keep him 20 hexes away.

Everything here being stripped down hard.
Skeleton forces only.
Lowpe would be seeing all of this on the Allied int reports.

Allied Sig Intel is good but not as good as you may think. It may say where LCUs are located more than what they are prepping for which what the Allied player wants.

Good point Mike, I will keep this in mind.ny59giants wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 12:06 pm Allied Sig Intel is good but not as good as you may think. It may say where LCUs are located more than what they are prepping for which what the Allied player wants.
*I see no movement or interest in the central pacific at this stage. I daresay Lowpe has enough going on in China to consume him for a while.

Another Kamikaze mission with unusually high strike rates.
Lowpe has no issues with me using them but it does continue to worry me.
I think I will have to ban using all recon birds as kamikaze platforms eventually

The critical battle in China at the moment- Wuchow.
2 x isolated and cut off Allied units being smashed by a combined arms Japanese Army.
Help is on the way though for the Allies. I have to be very careful here because if sizeable Allied forces break through I will be caught out in the open and massacred by his armour. I will press my luck a little further.

Re: Westerley Wind, Fine NJP72 (J) vs Lowpe (A) DBB Sce 30
With Lowpe's understanding, I played around with the D4YC to see if I could tone down its lethality by using different pilots and settings etc.
Alas this form of Exocet missile unleashed in early 44 is unstoppable (poor Porter).
The 3 x sentai's have been sent back to Tokyo and stood down for the foreseeable future. No real harm done to the Allies yet, but it has the potential to be devastating for the game.

Hope all is well and was wondering how the war progresses

Re: Westerley Wind, Fine NJP72 (J) vs Lowpe (A) DBB Sce 30
Hi MBF, thanks for your post.
Yes we are still going but very slow. Personal stuff and work are impacting heavily on both players. I do still believe we will punch on and get to 45 though. Will and try and send through an update shortly.

Excellent ! Slow is fine
I'm very glad and relieved it isn't bad news !

Regarding the Recon kamikazes, I believe there is some sort of integer overflow bug with naval attack above c.32,000ft (the number is likely to actually be 32,768ft = 2^15).
You would I believe get similar results with any sort of plane set to attack at those altitudes. I saw this ages ago in a a game with Kates level bombing at their max altitude but getting hits like they were at 100ft. However ... I have not tested it since.

What I would suggest is flying the planes at 30,000ft and seeing if you get the same abnormal result.
