Setting WRA ranges is worthless

Post by Eboreg »

I've run into a bit of a problem lately in that every single aircraft in a scenario I'm playing completely ignore WRA and always fire at maximum range. This has led to a quite frankly frustrating amount of micromanagement and there are probably some losses I can attribute to this bug. Can someone figure what is going on here?

I created a new battle with the same aircraft as a standalone and WRA worked as expected.

I then took your save and re-entered the 50% WRA. It worked as expected. Not sure what happened to your save. But WRA isn't exactly worthless.

As another datapoint, I started Canary Cage and all I did was point the F-18s at the F1s. I changed ROE to allowing opp fire. The pic shows a second before the F-18s fire. So, again, not sure what the issue is with your save.

Make sure to click on individual units and double check their WRA. Also check the target aircraft to see what it is in the database (many are classified as unspecified)

The individual units look to be aligned with group and overall WRA. Was this saved and restarted at any point. I have seen saving and restarting causing issues before with WRA. Those have typically been addressed in patches. But this might be a new one.

On that point, when I start a saved game, I always double check inheritance of ROE and WRA for critical units. An old habit from before some of the issues were fixed.

I've been saving it and restarting quite regularly.
