Modding AOG Arrivals with the Air AI

Here's what I want to do and need some advice as to the best option to get it done. This is for a scenario that I will play as the Soviets against the Axis AI using the Air AI.

What I want to do is to withdraw AOGs but have some appear back in the game after a period of time. I have two options I'm considering.

OPTION 1.

Use the AOGs that are set to withdraw. Instead of having them disband set them to the strategic reserve, rename (to simulate being a new AOG) and set a turn in the future for them to appear on the map. I'm just worried that with this option the Air AI will use them before I intend for them to be active again.

OPTION 2.

Just create new AOGs with the names and the new arrival dates to arrive in the strategic reserves (or should it be to the map?) when they should available. Only problem with this option is there aren't many free slots available.

Any advice appreciated.
