Final protective fires

Post by Zumwalt_446 »

I often encounter situations in which a single friendly unit is about to be overrun by multiple enemy units; the FSCC calls in artillery on the hex containing those units, but the barrage is aborted due to a friendly unit being in the hex. In reality, the friendly unit would have the option to call in final protective fires (FPF) which would result in an immediate barrage of the area immediately in front of the defending unit; however, this cannot occur in-game due to the friendly fire mechanics.

Would there be value in including a FPF mechanic under specific conditions (friendly units about to be overrun, in cover, etc.) in addition to the default artillery targeting process?

I am sure we can get something going for FPFs. I will JIRA this for the team to review.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
