It's so frustrating!

Post by wieschi »

And it's really taking the fun out of this great game.

For the third time in a row, my Axis opponents give up before or at the start of my counter-offensive at the end of '41, even though we expressly agreed to play to the end. No game has seen the year '42. Until winter, as a Soviet, you're nothing more than a punching bag, and then, when the fun can finally begin, it's over. Arrrrrgh.

Yes, if the offensive in '41 isn't really good for the Axis, then you just play to keep a draw. But damn it, that's the game, and both sides know that beforehand.

When you play against the AI, you can start over as often as you want, the AI doesn't care. But you have a responsibility for a human opponent!

I want to experience history. I don't play the game to win (but of course I do my best).

Sorry, but that had to come out.

PS: Any Intermediate/Advanced Axis player who is interested in a game is still welcome to get in touch.

Time to create a club of gentlemen wargamers that play WitE2, I am not talking outside this forum, just here.

Start a thread and write the requirements of entry :)

Some people may be interested in taking over abandoned games. There have been server games that were successfully transferred between players.

I usually also do not play multiplayer mainly for the same reason. The historical perspectives is more interesting to me than painting the map in my colors. In a time consuming game like this it is really necessary to keep up the spirit even when things are going bad, and maintain the enjoyment for both sides.
Maybe making some agreements before starting. Like instead of resigning, switch sides until the possible next turnaround. Or adding/removing forces from the theatres and so on.

And greetings again k62, I'm still remembering our match :-)

There's a similar phenomenon in War in the Pacific/AE. The Allies start receiving Essex-class carriers, better torpedoes and improved aircraft. At which point some Japanese human opponents resign, quit or disappear. At least in this game it's only a few months instead of years. (And the turns are in weeks instead of days)

Agree, all this time invested for carefully defending and then nothing. It happened to me in Warplan Europe also when USSR was beginning to have the upper hand. But, I have also opponents that continue to fight, defending the Reich against the Soviets. You just have to find a real opponent.

Yes I do, but not played for a long while. Just now went to the forum to check up on the game before beginning a new main campaign. I like the new beta stuff coming around.

I would certainly be open to the possibility of taking over an abandoned game.

That is just crappy behavior. I am pleased to have found Mochir, me and him are always going the whole way. I agree with others in the thread about a dedicated MP-thread for those who plays as gentlemen should be created. Those who are not up to it and breaking the rules are redlisted in the thread.

Thanks for the answers.
A list of players who behave well would be helpful. But I have no idea how to implement something like that.

On another note:
Does anyone know how to take over a game?
