Just lost my HTTR online virginity...

...and it hurt [:D]

What a great game!

Just finished my first online game, against Yakstock. We played Raid on Renkum (small, relatively easy manageable scenario), me as Axis. I lost, though I managed to infiltrate some part of his line and bypass his defensive points, in too many situations I played like Soviet Militia NCO cca 41, so I deservedly lost. Yak is an expert defender that's for sure. As for me - though HTTR AI opponent is great, playing another human is whole nuther ball game...

But even though I lost, what a great experience. This is the future of wargaming I am certain.

I used new Battle HQ feature to log on (not too many users as of now, actually me and Yakstock were the only ones in HTTR lobby).

What surprised me to no end is how the game is smooth and playable even on my ancient 56k modem! Great network engine. And bear in mind I am in Croatia which though we have good Internet links is not exactly center of the Internet universe. I think Yakstock is in US of A. We played mostly on "speed 2", with occasional, actually rare hiccups (slowdowns), but on "speed 1" everything played smoothly as if
against the AI.

Though the experience of playing over 56k modem is encouraging, I think I'll switch to broadband very soon.

Battle HQ feature is definitely worth trying, and YES - do turn the Windows firewall OFF before connecting (we could not play until I turned my firewall down).

So I guess there are more victims of Yakstock's violent defloration methods? [:D]

Geeez, you don't know what you can say in foreign language until you actually try [X(]

Well done Oleg. Gary just mentioned to me he had played another game against a newbie. I'm glad you enjoyed it. [:)]
