Probing bombardment at Ponape...
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Some good dogfights over Shanghai today....Emilys tried a long range naval attack and got shredded pretty well...by P40Es.

We are getting very close to our next forward operation.

Excellent work. Is the HK yard at 50 and Manila at 20 in this mod? You'll have some excellent forward repair yards available soon to go with your ARDs.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Weather was good, altitude was relatively low, and AA seemingly not all that present given the damaged bombers. Our pilots are decent so this is kind of disappointing results. I think the weakest aspect was the experience levels of the pilots?

Interesting oddball ships in this mod....very small but nice.
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Those are the fast Banana Boats! Based upon the four piper destroyer, in fact they were converted from them. Some of the bananas were still too ripe so instead of letting them rot, someone turned them into banana cakes aka banana flips!Lowpe wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 11:54 am Interesting oddball ships in this mod....very small but nice.

Maybe, but they didn't disable any HI...so if there is a calculation from bomb size to disablements then maybe not.Yaab wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 12:33 pmLowpe wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 11:34 am Our divebombers seem to get substantially more hits on industry from level bombing.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Vengeance DBs carry (at normal range) 2x 500 lb and 2x 250lb bombs. That's 4 chances at a hit vs the 1 chance from an SBD DB. But I think the bigger bomb carried by the US DBs has a better chance of damaging HI. And isn't there a one-turn wait for accurate bomb damage assessment on industry? Recon of the enemy base and all that?Lowpe: Our divebombers seem to get substantially more hits on industry from level bombing.

The Vengeance gets more hits per plane than does a B24J with equivalent pilot quality despite the B24J more numerous bombs (10 vs 4).BBfanboy wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 12:25 pmVengeance DBs carry (at normal range) 2x 500 lb and 2x 250lb bombs. That may be in the code itself with dive bombers being more accurate. However, it may not differentiate between dive bombing and level bombing.Lowpe wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 4:37 pmThe Vengeance gets more hits per plane than does a B24J with equivalent pilot quality despite the B24J more numerous bombs (10 vs 4).BBfanboy wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 12:25 pmVengeance DBs carry (at normal range) 2x 500 lb and 2x 250lb bombs. Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Dive bombing is less accurate and and I remember reading posts about level bombing for DB from one of the developers so there is generically a distinction but that might not have made it to the City attack routines.,...divebombing they have to contend with barrage balloons even if at a lesser rate since they are single engine...also more 20mm ackack. Vengeance has radar plus smaller bombs that are more accurate but less damaging I think. Lots of things to consider...RangerJoe wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:21 pmThat may be in the code itself with dive bombers being more accurate.
