Disappearing Islands

Post by rmelvin »

I place some mines on single hex island in the editor. In game playing the island disappear if the resource item is an oil field or mine in hidden mode.

Also, could resource center if hidden has no indication of location to opposing forces. Until the hex is occupied or comes into ZOC, or flighting "direct" over the hex.

119,126 Hex=12; Terrain=123; Resource=63 - France
120,127 Hex=387; Terrain=0; Resource=64 - France
In editor shown the island
In game play the island disappeared.

This looks to be purposeful in the code, but with a different implementation in mind... which results in what you are seeing on your end in game.

e.g. for some of our campaigns, we've hidden a thin piece of land in let's say the bottom right hand corner of the map with hidden resources, and to avoid the questions of why is that there, the whole stretch is just hidden in game.

It's based on a count of adjacent sea hexes relative to land hexes, and in our case it made sense to do this... but for your example, while it satisfies this check, it seems odd.

At the moment there is no way around this without changing the code and rethinking our use of this function... unfortunately.
