North Africa Campaign

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

North Africa Campaign

Post by DarkHorse2 »

While there are many aspects of this specific title I found it a reasonable approximate representation of WWII, but for some reason, the North Africa Campaign really stands out!

The number of units / men represented in the North Africa Campaign is grossly over represented on both sides.

For example, Aug 1940, the UK has the following advancing into Libya:
- Western Defense Force (WDF), about 36k men in late 1940 and really closer to the size of a Corps than an Army (later reformed as the 8th Army)
- B.E.F. :?: an oversized Army of about 390k men (historically disbanded May 1940)
- I Corps (UK) about 50k men
- II Corps (UK) about 50k men
- I Australian Corps (Aus) about 50k men

So, we are looking at half a million men advancing across the Libyan border in Aug 1940, while historically it was only 36k men.

Which is a factor of (500k to 36k) or (18.1 to 1) as compared to the historical numbers.

This is the reason why this theatre makes me nuts in SC WWII War in Europe.

And it only progressively gets worse once the "Afrika Corps" events fire....

This is a theatre where there should have been some hard limits imposed on the number and size of units allowed.

If the British have that many troops in North Africa in Aug 1940, as the Axis I would be have a very good chance of a successful Sealion! You wouldn't get away with that vs. a competent human opponent.
