[WAD] AAA

Post by trevor999 »

I don't know if this is the right board since it's not an error really. More a database question.

But what happened to all the AAA? ex - In "Facilities" North Korea only has 30mm M1992 SPAAG, when it used to have several types of AAA in different configurations and still had heaps of AAA for point defense. And in the DB under "Ground Units" there is only the Stryker Guardian. If you want AAA you have to search through half the DB to find a country that still has AAA included - Angola & Algeria (57mm S60), Iran (100mm KS19), Pakistan (37mm Type 65).
There are many countries that still have Soviet era AAA batteries (37mm/57mm/100mm) in their inventories especially China, North Korea, Vietnam and other former Soviet client states in Africa and Asia.

My understanding is that the DB Team does not delete units in new DB releases. I see numerous AAA mounts in the CWDB for the DPRK vs the one M1992 in the DB3k. Are you confusing the two DBs?

You can always submit the DB GitHub any units that should have a carry over into the DB3K.

DB3000 v505
Database viewer
Type: Facility
Filter by...
County: North Korea
Sub Type: None
AAA Plt/2 (30mm M1992 SPAAGx 2)-- North Korea (Army), 1992, 2x pr Plt

NK still employs thousands of M1939 61-K/Type 55/65/74 37mm, S-60 57mm and KS-19 100mm AAA, and probably quite a few ZSU-57.

There are also many missing from China. And there are literally zero AAA listed for Cuba, which is preposterous.

I know they were there in previous DB iterations, because there are scenarios published that were created with previous DB's that included these units.

So where did they go?

Do you remember any scenario in particular?

Addendum:

DB 3000 v505
Database Viewer/Aircraft/US/All platforms/ASW

No P3 Orion, No P-8 Poseidon. But it does list VH-3D Marine One as an ASW a/c (!!?!!)

I think it would be helpful to point out the scenarios and the dbs where you saw them.

Well, two off the top of my head are
Chains of War/Nightmares (NK) & Korean Ground Game (NK). Both have 37mm M1939 x6, ZSU-57-2 x6, ZSU-23-4 Shilka x2.

Both built with Data Base 3000 v504. Some something has happened during the DB update, I think.

I really don't have time to go through all the Community scenarios.

Oh I see.

They are borrowed from other countries, Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Soviet Union.

Did I ask you to go through all community scenarios?

I think Nikel nailed it and its what I suspected.

Perhaps there is a limitation in the db and only the selection of one of the types is allowed per unit?

The Orion and the Poseidon are classified as Maritime Patrol Aircraft. And even though the also work as ASW aircrafts, if you choose one you lose the other?

The Marine One is clearly an error, it should it be Transport, like the future VH-92A Patriot.

I'm not sure how much impact those subcategories really have. I think the OP is reading too much into it. The units are there, use them as you see fit.

I think you are confusing a “side” in a scenario with the countries that appear in the database and they are totally different things. Because a side in a scenario has a unit and that side has the name of a country, that does not mean that the country in the database has to have the weapon.

Ex: You can create a side called UK with a nuclear aircraft carrier, but that is not going to make UK have a nuclear aircraft carrier in the database.

And as said above non item is deleted to ensure compatibility with all the scenarios created, the only thing that can happen is that the unit may change some of its characteristics.

Those units are listed under MPA and have never appeared under ASW
