Campaign Series: Vietnam - Update v1.31.02
Campaign Series: Vietnam's latest update is a substantial one. It has added six new scenarios and new orders of battle, alongside numerous bugfixes and improvements. You can download the update directly from this link.
Starting off with new missions. The game now features six entirely new scenarios that cover the Tet Offensive. Tet was a major north Vietnamese offensive in 1968 that caught the south Vietnamese government and their U.S. allies by surprise. While it failed to produce a mass uprising like the north Vietnamese wanted, the shock of it's scale and complexity stunned the western world. The battles during Tet were some of the most bloody and brutal of the war, and now you can war game out six of them.
To modders and scenario designers we have also expanded the orders of battle. Unit OOB's have been extended to 1967-1985. If you want to create custom scenarios about the 1972 Easter Offensive or the final decisive 1975 Spring Offensive, those tools are now at your disposal.
The full changelog is posted below. Happy hunting everyone!
Enhancements
• Extended CS Vietnam end date from 12/1967 to 12/1985.
• Implemented a message to display a confirmation of the changed Action Speed.
• Objectives no display or obscure their values based on whether Enhanced Fog of War optional rule is selected.
• Changed Double Value objectives to display the controlling side and award the value to the side controlling it when the scenario ends.
• Changed turn-by-turn Single value objective to be cumulative.
• Background music now always plays either neutral or side-specific tracks only. The 50% chance for ambient combat sounds in-between has been removed.
• Added slope hex sides to 2D maps to better depict elevation changes.
Fixes
• Fixed a bug where Side B was not able to see Single Value Objective values.
• Fixed issues with entering and exiting a Pontoon Bridge hex (introduced in 1.30/2.30).
• Assaulting a hex now reveals any possible unrevealed fortifications in place.
• Loaded rafts can now move into shallow water and onto land and unload their passengers at either location (introduced in 1.30/2.30).
• Removed Play Campaign button from the front end as the Linked Campaigns are no longer supported from Middle East 2.30 (potential to be returned).
• Fixed a situation where a carrying unit was able to move into a village but subsequently unable to move out.
• Fixed an Assault CTD bug occurring when Leader(s) are present under certain circumstances.
• Fixed a bug where, during Play-by-Email opponent phase replays at night, some opponent units that moved should have remain concealed were displayed for the duration of the replay (introduced in CSVN 1.30)
Graphics
• Added new 2D slope graphic files with ten elevation colour variants.
• Revised aircraft graphics (thank you, Kevin!).

Re: Campaign Series: Vietnam - Update v1.31.02
Yes, I do remember long ago - and maybe it's been over a year or more - the developers promising they would cover Tet in a future update. And today that update has arrived!
With very few exceptions, most of Matrix active developers continue to support their games for years on end. These efforts often take a lot of time, but the company itself and its developers continue to make good on their promises.

That's awesome to hear that it's your favourite!
What makes it your favourite?
How can we improve it?

Double dang. Seems like I'll need to uninstall and then re-install the game and then reactivate the mods I like?Crossroads wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 5:37 amYes, all mods should be disabled before running the update.RedBunny wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:09 am Dang, should I have uninstalled my JSGME mods before upgrading?

Yes, that would be the safe option. We have a post at CSLegion.com about the new update stating this, and it will be part of the Weekly Digest email automation today. I had not written this here yet. Sorry. Hopefully all worth the effort though!RedBunny wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 5:58 amDouble dang. Re: Campaign Series: Vietnam - Update v1.31.02
Copying this question here as well:
Crossroads wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 5:14 pmYes, it should be fine to install the official 1.31.02 update over the public beta. The latest update version is always cumulative, including everything added since the first full installer.MarechalJoffre wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:38 pm Quick question, I recently reinstalled CSVN to play the 1.31 Beta. Now that the official update is out, should I remove everything and install again? Or would official update simply override the Beta just fine?
In this case, it is worth mentioning that the official 1.31.02 update contains a few new features added after the 1.31.00 public beta, such as the fix for the PBEM replay bug during night turns.

Hi, I am waiting a couple of days for my anniversary coupon to come before buying this. So I wanted to download and read the updated manual but the link points to the older manual. Any chance of updating the link?
