Campaign mission reference points

Post by 1nutworld »

Has anyone noticed that when you are playing a campaign that the reference points set for various missions don't stay associated with the assigned mission in the mission editor.

Here's the situation I have come across:
I am playing the Desert Storm campaign Scenario 1.

I have set a refueling mission using reference point 1 and reference point 2 as the basis for said tankers to use.
a little while later, I add 4 reference points for an AEW mission. RP's 3,4,5 and 6.

when going back into the editor for checking settings for my refueling mission, it now says that RP's 3,4,5, and 6 are now the RP's for said refueling mission and the mission display name on the map now says "refueling" in that boxed area displayed on my map.

This sounds a little like a mission-editing issue I have encountered from time to time. Suppose Mission A is the last mission you accessed in the Mission Editor. Now, you click on Add new mission to start working on Mission B. After entering a few settings for Mission B, you temporarily exit the Mission Editor to check something on the map. After finishing your map check, you reopen the Mission Editor thinking it will default to Mission B. It actually defaulted back to Mission A, so any changes you make at this point are actually going to A rather than B. I can't be sure this is what happened to you, but I have screwed up existing missions this way on several occasions.

Yes, that is pretty much what has happened.

Is this something that can be avoided by letting the designers know? Or is it..STFU and just deal with it. It's a minor issue.

Have you tried deleting the unwanted RPs in the Area/RP Manager box in the Mission Setting screen? When creating a mission, I occasionally have unwanted RPs "on" and they get added to the mission's Area with weird results and often an invalid area warning. Just delete the unwanted RPs from the mission Area and the problem is fixed.
