Green line on map

Post by Bella »

I’m marching a couple engineer unit from one hex to another on an island in the Solomons. The hexside between the hexes has a light green line. The on-map terrain chart shows the green line symbol but no information about it.

Two questions:

1) what terrain feature is represented by the green line?

2) What are the effects on movement? Is it even passable (my units are moving VERY slowly)?

Hexsides are normally black, but you can toggle colored hexsides off and on in the preferences menu or with the F6 key to view the hexside terrain types. Do you have that feature turned on? Green in that context means ground movement only.

The terrain is responsible for slow movement. Jungle Rough is one of the worst terrains. As mentioned, the green line means it can be crossed on foot/by vehicle.

But you also need to look at the hex side ownership with the W key in case the enemy is in your hex and owns the hex side. (Red for Japanese, Green for Allies). If the enemy owns the hex side you cannot leave the hex by that side but one of your units external to the hex could cross into your hex and flip the hexside ownership. That is why (unless they are impassable water or cliffs) your units need to enter all six hexsides to trap the enemy in a hex.

A white hexside means it is passable on land AND water. On hexside details (F6) red means impassable terrain or ocean reefs.
