Loading ship with supply

Post by Chris21wen »

Thought I knew how to do most things with the editor but stuck.

I want to a Cargo TF loaded with supply. How's it done??? Neither ship now TF seem to have anyway having supply, fuel, resources or oil already loaded.

Hey, to create a Cargo TF loaded with supplies, first, select the Cargo Task Force (TF) in the editor. Then, choose the individual ships within that TF. You need to manually add the supplies, fuel, resources, or oil to each ship. Look for the option to load these items in the ship's inventory or cargo settings.
If you’re not seeing the option, double-check the settings or consult the manual for specifics. Sometimes, the interface can be a bit tricky. Ensure that the ships are correctly categorized and that you’re in the right section of the editor. Hope this helps, and good luck with your game!
Greetings, Andrew :-)

Thanks for the reply but sorry, none of this works unless I'm missing something very basic. Here's the TF screen and there's nothing in this screen that lets me edit cargo.

And a ship from the TF and likewise nothing I can see let's me enter cargo.

Can you supply a pic showing me where please. I do not know what you mean by 'settings' As far as I can see there are no settings for the editor.

On the TF screen, toggle the radio button to 'ships' - you have it on 'units'. When it shows a list of ships & you select one, what happens? (don't have it in front of me, sorry!)

Thought I'd posted with ships displayed.

There is nothing in this box that is clickable. It's just info into what is in the TF.

Apologies for any confusion caused, my AI search 'friend' also says this is not possible. And they are now pretty good at digging up obscure WiTP info.

Anybody know? Must be possible as current scenarios have ships loaded?

The at-start load of cargo ships in TFs is random and cannot be edited. It is possible to assign LCUs and air groups to be loaded on a specific TF but not on a specific ship within the TF, that is being decided by the game engine as well.

Um! Not ideal when creating a scenario. I fact I'd say it's a poor oversight. Thanks for the reply.

OK, digging into some old memory cells here ...

1. Load a small, irrelevant unit, into one ship and assign to TF
2. Set the TF as either Transport or Amphib
3. Add other ships to the TF
4. supply will load into all the other ships in the TF.

Thanks Pax. I know that happens in game but never associated it with scenario design so just tried it but instead of loading just the added ship with supply it also partly loaded it with the LCU. The reason being is you are not loading the LCU onto a ship but to the TF using the LCU 'Unit to load' box.

Looking at the editor in more detail there are other things that cannot be edited during design, unloading, refueling etc. I've noticed this problem also applies to other design elements.

What we need is a programming genius to come up with a comprehensive editor that'll let use do everything you can do in the game.

Not me, I'm an engineer and it's our job to blame them when thing don't go right ;)

Most scenario designers use the .csv files. You may have noticed I started my reply with "old memory cells"; that wasn't a reference to me per se, but rather that I haven't used the editor in a LONG time except as a data viewer. All changes are done in the .csv's.

So, let's use TF 8002 for IJ, to ensure fuel is loaded in this tanker TF, I set tankers into the TF, ensure that the TF is either replenishment or tanker, ensure that there is sufficient fuel at the starting base, give it a destination, mark it for magic move to force it to move the first turn, and when the scenario starts, they are loaded automatically. Will they be 100% full, that depends upon the amount of fuel present, the size of the tankers, the size of the port, etc. Looking at this, you should be able to do it in the editor, I've just never done it there.

Same technique will allow you to create supply convoys. Resource or Oil convoys I've never been able to really kick off right, but I will also say I haven't put that much time or focus into it.

Hope this helps.
