Imperial Tide: DW (J) vs Nemo (A)
This is the other campaign I am playing, this time as the Japanese against the famous Nemo. We are playing with minimal rules and like the game against Loka we are playing stock Scenario 2 (with stacking limits). This is the first time I play with Scenario 2 as the Japanese, having exlusively taken Scenario 1 in the past. To be frank, I don't like it, the Japanese are way too overpowered in the first year with the additional IJN squadrons etc, so I will likely revert to playing with Scenario 1 in the future when taking Japan.
I guess this shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but this has been a unique and interesting campaign. The current date is February 9, 1942, and lots has happend already. I went with an Australia/Malaya opening, and Nemo responded with a a Fortress Palembang (including the 18th British Division and several independent Indian Brigades) as well as a massive onslaught on the Kuriles/Hokkaido with the US Pacific Fleet and any forces immediately available. The northern thrust was parried and defeated, with the loss of three BBs, several CAs/CLs, and two carriers (CV Enterprise and CV Lexington), as well as damage to CV Saratoga. I also took the oppurtonity to land on Hawaii in a counter thrust. I also decided to bypass Fortress PB for now, instead going for landings on Burma/India/Ceylon. China is also being steamrolled, with Chungking being seized on February 1 and now pressing behind the Chinese in the mountains paths around Kunming. Here is the current score:

The current campaign to take Hawaii, with three divisions landed at Pearl. Johnston Island has been a tougher nut to crack than anticipated as Nemo has reinforced it with the 7th Marine Defense Battalion:

I usually take Chungking around March/April, but this time I took it earlier than usual as Nemo attempted to flee with the Chinese towards Burma:

In India, Nemo went for a forward defense and bottled up some of my forces along the southern coast. I will push forces in other directions to circumvent is forward defense:

Warship losses have been moderate, with all of them listed in the image below (no submarines lost so far). Allied warship losses are significantly higher, including 2 CVs, 5 BBs, some 10 CAs, 18 CLs, and scores of DDs and submarines:

February 10
The first attack on Pearl Harbor goes forth. The results are pretty good. An IJA tank regiment is trashed but forts are knocked down and a quarter of the US AV is disabled.

The capture of Hawaii takes the victory ratio north of 6:1 in favor of the Japanese. Now where do I go? Should I invade Russia again? Go for a West Coast adventure? Cross the reinforcement line in Australia? New Zealand?

I don't know if I've ever seen a more dominating performance than this one, DW. You've really outdone yourself on this campaign!

Wow, must have been quite a game.
Is is going to be continued, the Allies will get lots of new toys to play with in 1943, then in 1944 the steamroll back begins?

Re: 2 of my favorite players
Should go the distance since we agreed to play beyond AV. The idea is we do a mirror game after, and then compare the two game results to see who is the overall winner.Timotheus wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 4:15 am Wow, must have been quite a game.

The campaign continues, with Japan advancing across the map. The Chinese theater has been concluded except for some mop up operations. I am advancing deep into India, remaining Allied forces in Australia have been pushed south of the emergency reinforcement line, and the Pacific is entirely under the Japanese flag.

The victory ratio rose to 7 to 1 in favor of Japan on February 28. Many more battles and invasions to come.
Re: Imperial Tide: DW (J) vs Nemo (A)
wish there was a video series or a day by day AAR to follow. Tried to read through the discord, but so hard to follow given you're posting about 2 simultaneous aar's and people comment a lot throughout. Congrats on another epic match
Re: Imperial Tide: DW (J) vs Nemo (A)
Yes, a day by day AAR with pictures to see how his Japanese colonization is going!
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Re: Imperial Tide: DW (J) vs Nemo (A)
alright desertwolf, that's two of us and that makes a quorum. It is now a MORAL IMPERATIVE that you record videos in a Lodrik style or at least a traditional AAR! You're denying us our late night fix!!
