Can someone please help me figure out this issue?

I am working on my own scenario for my own fun to kill some time but hopefully in the process improve my skills in scenario design and game play.

I have created a scenario where I am operating out of Naval Station Norfolk and currently I have 9 ships added to the base. 4 Nimitz Class carriers and the Ford. I also have added 4 Tico class CG's. I have attempted to add to the base the 4 Wasp Class LHD's that are currently home ported out of Norfolk. However I can not add them for some reason. The game won't allow me to despite the fact that there are 13 structures (pier Very large) and one structure 1 naval dock. which allows for approximately 70 vessels to be moored. (another note) having been on the Ike and home ported at NSN I know that the last to north piers at NSN are designated carrier piers, for whatever reason the carriers are all moored on one pier the "Naval dock" structure and I can't assign them to what would be either of the actually designated carrier piers. I know that is a very small point to quibble on but I find it interesting that despite the carrier units being allowed by the game processes to pier Large or Very Large ONLY because of the size of the unit. They can't be assigned to the current database unit that is in the game as Naval Station Norfolk.

So back to my issue, with only 9 of the sixty or 70 something mooring places at Naval Station Norfolk the game won't let me add the Wasp units to the Norfolk Naval Station base, nor can I put them to sea and assign that as their Home Base and tell them to "return to base".

I can however add an Burke Class DDG and assign it to NSN and it will go there, as well as a Virginia Class Sub. Same thing for the multiple other smaller ships that I placed at sea outside NSN and assigned that as home port and told to return to base.

I think I figured out the issue. The Wasp class and bigger ships require Extra Large Pier and the "naval dock" unit assigned to Naval Station Norfolk will allow ships using that designation but Very Large Piers will NOT hold carriers or amphibious assault ships that require Extra Large as opposed to Very Large.

Can anyone confirm?

Are you using a single unit naval base? It sounds like it may be over capacity if you've added every vessel based at Norfolk. The capacity of the single unit bases may not be accurate for a large naval base or port. It may require multiple of them or building them out as a multi-unit base.

You can also add additional piers to a single unit port as well in editor.

No I am using the Naval Station Norfolk from the import/export folder in the database. Not a single unit base. Good thought though. I hadn't considered that would be an option.

You can also add additional piers to a single unit port as well in editor.

Thank you, I wasn't aware you could do that, but in this instance I am using the NSN from the import/export folder in the database.

Ok so you can add additional piers to the group or you can add piers to piers the same as to a single port. If you want ships to be at specific pier you can add them to that specific pier by viewing the base in unit view and selecting the pier specifically and either add the unit directly or assigning it as a homebase for a ship.
