Hi there,
any tips for the Tulip 2, convoy mission? I always seem to miss a 1-2 turns to capture the last point.
1/ Vietkong engineers sitting on the road seem super tough (around turn 20); had to encircle them with multiple (4-5 + 2 APV + mortar) units to force them to retreat, but it took quite some turns. They have assault value of 16, that I've never seen before in other troops.
2/ Should I disembark all my units and had multiple platoons sweeping way ahead of the convoy?
3/ Why does the scenario mentiones specific use of engineer platoons?
Edit: I checked other units in scenario editor and did not found any other unit with assault level of 16? Are they like superhuman?
Thanks for the help!
Hello kodab89, sorry , had missed this post.
This is a fun and tough scenario, I did the CSEE code for this based on scenario designer David Galster's battle plans. There's 30 turns to achieve things, it pays to move in systematic way, to have enough fire power to open the road as required, but then to have recon assets around to push through when considered safe. Friendly engineers are required in removing VM blocks and minefields from the road, also there's a strong suggestion to destroy any VM Tunnel systems found.
They are tough, as I recall the better US Engineer platoons have an assault value of 12. VM units are really good in assaulting their enemies, and while the regular VM Sappers have a more down to earth "8" as Assault value, these indeed pack a lot of combat power in them.
I hope this answered your questions.
