Carrier recon question

Post by jonpfl »

All,

I know you can do recon with land based aircraft but can you do the same with carrier aircraft?

I don't see a way, am I missing something?

Thx

Click on the carrier unit, press the Shift key and then use the mouse to pick the range you want to recon at.

Cool, is that written in the manual somewhere? I didn't see anything when I looked.

Thx

The manual is rather vague about it. The hotkeys list on other hand is a bit more specific.

However, even the above isn't completely correct. As long as you haven't used up all of a carrier unit action points you can still use the recon function. In other words, it can move and reconnoiter. But once all its action points are exhausted then it goes dark and can't. It's also important to note that using recon burns up action points for that carrier just like naval strikes do.

Given how many players have had to ask the carrier recon question I think most people just stumble across it eventually. BTW if the carrier should spot a naval unit in the exact hex it's searching, the recon becomes an attack.
